NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that a new 8way world record is coming up?

Brian "BK" Krause and Clement Martin St. Leon
posted Aug 5th, 2011 - It still is a horse race in 8way, even though the Golden Knights have created a 4-point lead over Aerodyne Maubeuge. There is a simple reason why 8way is still wide open. A potential world record sequence is coming up in Round 7, and the scores could change everything.

Of course, the NSL News was interested to find out what the team members and coaches would think about it. They all agreed on one thing: the sequence of Round 7 has the potential to produce a new 8way world record for a single round. In fact, French 8way coach Erwan Pouliquen is convinced that one of the three 8way powerhouses will score 32 points or higher. The standing world record is a 31-pointer, and the Golden Knights lineup of 1997 still owns it.

The NSL News first spoke with coach Erwan Pouliquen, team captain Clement Martin St. Leon and alternate Damien Sorlin. Then Golden Knights team captain Brian "BK" Krause explained the situation from his perspective. Finally, Clement Martin St. Leon happened to walk by and exchanged a few words with the Golden Knight. By the way: both teams also include the Russian 8way team in the race for the new world record.

Gold for Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders
In the meantime, Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders won the female 4way competition. Round 10 has been completed, and the final scores are posted. The Defenders finished off the meet with a super clean random sequence.

The French 4way team in the Open Class, Aerodyne Aerokart, won Round 7 by four points and is now seven points ahead of NMP-PCH Hayabusa. There are still two more rounds to be completed before the fast "Hayabusa Sequence" comes up in Round 10.

Arizona Airspeed member Thomas Hughes has arrived for a 1-day visit. He spent more time with his XL friends Pete Allum and Steve Hamilton than watching the jumps on the screen... Round 8 in 4way is in progress. The teams will switch to 8way as soon as the round is complete. Then it will be time for the new world record. Or not...
