Did You Know...

... that the scores of Round 10 and a Freeflying update conclude the World Challenge 2011?

posted Apr 3rd, 2011 - The World Challenge 2011 is over.

Round 10 did not change anything. NMP-PCH Hayabusa won the indoor competition, and SDC Rhythm XP defended the 5th place successfully.

Joey Jones and the NSL News spoke with Hayabusa after the last round and with Airspeed after the award ceremony. The videos of the conversations will be uploaded later.

Now it's time for the final update of the Freeflying competition, once again provided by Piers Hampson.

Day two kicks of with a bang as all the teams pull out all the stops with some of the cleanest flying we have seen so far in the competition. These three free rounds are all back-to-back and the only time in the competition the teams get to really get to grips with their routines.

Rounds 5, 6 & 7 – Free Rounds

Across the rounds it has become apparent that in the open free fly category we have 8 teams that are really capable of battling it out at the very top level. Not only are we seeing this in the tunnel but also out in the viewing gallery. Each time the free fly is announced you cannot move for people crowding in to watch the incredible routines at this years challenge.

Freeflying winner: Bodyflight Animal

Rounds 8 and 9

Round 8 was a compulsory round. A relatively difficult draw, which contained a transition that was handled very differently by the teams. Moving from a head up and head down position with double head touch, most teams choose to stay in the same orientation and fly past one another to achieve the single foot touch required. Bodyflight Animal chose however to both invert from their existing position. This appears to be much quicker but only the scores will tell the true story.

Round 9 was a free round. Once again all the competitors gave us quite a show but you can tell that it was the last round as a relaxed vibe spread throughout the free fly competition. It was now about having fun. With a few extra spins and flips in he routines thrown in where ever possible the crowd once again filled out the viewing areas and watched some of the most competent flyers in the world.

To finish of the day 4 flyers jumped back in the tunnel and showed the crowd a little bit of 4way free fly which cant fail to put a smile on your face. Even the judges gave the guys high fives on the way out of the tunnel. All that’s left to do now is wait for the final result.
