Did You Know...

... that Perris Fury found Skins Game consolation in Round 9?

Lost the meet in Round 9: DeLand Dunamis
posted Mar 31st, 2010 - Today's NSL News story is still coming from US soil, even though the transfer of the mobile office from DeLand to the United Kingdom has already begun.

The Round 9 videos of the Top 10 teams at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010 have been uploaded and are available for reviews. The videos of Round 10 will follow tomorrow, together with the first live report from Bodyflight Bedford where the World Challenge 2010 will begin Saturday morning.

Two events in Round 9 caught the NSL News attention. The first one occured in the A Class competition where DeLand 5 and DeLand Dunamis fought an exciting battle for the top position and the $300 cash for the first place, sponsored by Larsen & Brusgaard. The $300 would go to the team in 1st place in raw scores after ten rounds.

20 points total damage Perris Fury
The NSL News will give this A Class race special attention later on. For now, the scores of Round 9 decided the final outcome of the duel between the two DeLand teams.

DeLand 5 had first created a 6-point lead after the first five rounds and gave it all up in Round 6. Dunamis took the lead for the first time in Round 7 and then lost four points in Round 9. DeLand 5 eventually defended the new 3-point lead successfully in Round 10.

The second topic is Perris Fury's second round without a point deduction. Only Fury's Round 1 had a clean scoresheet so far. The Perris team lost a total of 20 points over the 10-round competition. The world class team took it in good spirits, although it must have been a painful experience during the meet.

Best jump of the meet: Voluntas
The clean performance in Round 9 and the good spirits were finally rewarded in the Shamrock Skins Game. It was the first time that one of the top teams finally won a round after handicap. Perris Fury posted the second highest score of the round behind the French national team and took home $800 cash.

The US Army had not only sent the Golden Knights 8-way lineup and both 4-way teams to compete in DeLand. The headquarters also sponsored the competition with some cash for the Shamrock Skins Game.

Perris Fury won the US Army's $800 contribution for Round 9.

Skins Game scores after handicap
It was once again a close call in Round 9 after handicap, as Denmark's national 4-way team Voluntas came up with the team's best round of the meet. Perris Fury won the $800 with 31.10 points, and Voluntas (30.71) was only 0.39 points behind.

The Danish team finished in 12th place at the Shamrock Showdown with a 15.4 average. The Voluntas 20-pointer in Round 9 reached up into the Top 10 positions and tied other 20-pointers posted by Paraclete XP4, SDC Rhythm XP and Spaceland Blue. Voluntas is one of the eight teams at the Shamrock Showdown that will also appear on the leaderboard of the World Challenge 2010 this weekend.

The 8-point AAA Class damage in Round 9 was shared between Ranch Fallout (-2), NMP-PCH Hayabusa (-1), Paraclete XP4 (-1), Spaceland Blue (-1), Golden Knights Gold (-1), Speedy Kids (-1) and Friday 13 (-1).

The last round of Top 10 videos at the Shamrock Showdown 2010 will be uploaded tomorrow, and the winner of the other $800 cash for Round 10 after handicap will be announced at the same time. The winner of the $1,000 cash for the 1st place in the AAA Class after ten rounds, sponsored by Skydive DeLand, was already in a very safe position before Round 10. Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge went into the final round with a 16-point lead over Hayabusa.
