NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that Friday 13 added $500 cash to the team purse in Round 8?

Defending champion: Arizona Airspeed
posted Mar 30th, 2010 - The NSL News is hardly done with the coverage of the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010, and the next major event is already around the corner. In fact, the World Challenge 2010 begins this Friday at Bodyflight Bedford.

The reigning 4-way world champions, Arizona Airspeed, have already been in Bedford for a little while. They are taking their next and third competition this year very seriously, as they are the triple defending indoor champions of the World Challenge. This year's event will also most likely be the toughest challenge for the world champions in the history of the event and in the history of this Airspeed lineup.

Several teams are eager to beat the world champions for the first time, keep up or stay in touch with Airspeed throughout the 10-round competition. Even winning a round is already a great achievement. The events of the past years offered already most exciting competition that would find the winner only in the last round. However, this year's World Challenge seems to offer even more thrills.

Round 8 of the Top 10 teams at the Shamrock Showdown 2010
Runner up in 2009: Perris Fury
The NSL mentioned already earlier that eight teams that competed at the Shamrock Showdown will travel to Bedford this week, or they are already there. Those traveling teams include the Top 3 of the Shamrock Showdown: Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge, NMP-PCH Hayabusa and Perris Fury. Each of these three top contenders might be on the very top of the World Challenge leaderboard this Sunday night.

Three other Shamrock Showdown teams, Aerokart Deep Blue, Paraclete XP4 and SDC Rhythm XP, will probably be eager to post scores that are close to the highest ones per round or even win or tie a round here and there.

The videos of Round 8 at the Shamrock Showdown 2010 feature once again the Top 10 teams, including the toughest Airspeed challengers in Bedford and the underdogs. The new round of NSL-TV also features two other teams that will compete at the World Challenge 2010: UK's team Kaizen and Denmark's national 4-way team Voluntas.

Skins Game scores for Round 8 after handicap
The same video includes Round 8 of the Russian guests in DeLand, Friday 13. The new lineup of experienced and well trained 4-way competitors showed its teeth again in Round 8 and won another $500 cash in the Shamrock Skins Game.

Friday 13 had already taken the $300 of Round 6 after handicap. This time, the $500 cash prize was sponsored by Aerokart, the vertical wind tunnel in Paris, France. Friday 13 won the $300 for Round 6 quite easily. The race for the cash was much closer in Round 8.

Friday 13 won Round 8 with 27.79 points after handicap. Black Cat, the Russian national champion of 2009, was incredible 0.08 points behind in second place.

Spaceland Blue, the US national team in the female category, was also just an inch away from the $500 cash with 27.31 points after handicap. Blue would have been the cash winner of Round 8 without the 1-point deduction.

Several highscores - but no skins: France
AAA Class winner Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge posted the highscore for the round with a 26-pointer, after a 1-point deduction. The 27.00 French points after handicap would have been very close to the $500 Aerokart cash, but it wasn't enough anyway.

NMP-PCH Hayabusa lost two points in the judging room, and Perris Fury had another sad penalty record of five points just in this round. Speedy Kids lost two points, as well.

Genesis, Mass Defiance, SDC Rhythm XP, Golden Knights Gold, DeLand Shmeland XP, Carolina Turbo XP and DeLand 5 lost one point each.
