Did You Know...

... that Flippin Awesome had Blue and family connections?

Flippn Awesome at the Valentine's Meet 2010
posted Feb 28th, 2010 - The NSL News story on 25 February 2010 had introduced the Arizona Frenzy lineup at the Valentine's Meet 2010 and explained some cross connections between Frenzy and other teams.

There were actually even more cross connections, which reached beyond the competition classes. The Flippin Awesome lineup, the only team in the AA Class competition at the Valentine's Meet 2010, included Gary Peterson. He is Annie Peterson's father. Annie Peterson is a member of the US national 4-way team in the female category, Spaceland Blue, and she competed in Eloy as a player coach for Arizona Frenzy.

It was not the first time that Gary Peterson attended an event where his daughter competed at the same time. In fact, Gary and Annie Peterson were even in the same lineup at the June meet of the Arizona Skydiving League 2008. Team NAFTA (Jose Aguilera, Liz Jack, Annie Peterson, Gary Peterson) finished with a 7.3 average in the AA Class.

This time, Annie Peterson was competing with Arizona Frenzy, and Gary Peterson had to jump without his daughter. However, Flippin Awesome still had some guidance, and it was provided by one of Annie Peterson's Spaceland Blue team mates.

Brianne Thompson is the Center Inside for the US female 4-way team where Annie Peterson flies the Point position. Brianne Thompson helped her team mate's father's team through the meet in Eloy.

Flippin Awesome finished with a lower average (3.0) compared to the 2008 meet when the Peterson family competed together. The exits caused most of the trouble, as the videos of four of the Flippin Awesome meet jumps show. The AA Class team showed great skills and techniques most of the time once it was back together after the first turbulences.

Brianne Thompson and Annie Peterson will now join forces again and prepare for the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010. The French national team Aerokart Deep Blue will be waiting to be challenged in DeLand in March.

Spaceland Blue had a late start into the 2010 world meet season, as Becky Brocato had to recover from a knee injury. Sally Hathaway had filled her slot at the USPA Nationals 2009. The original Blue lineup is complete now, and coach Thomas Hughes will try to bring the team up to speed as quickly as possible.
