posted Jul 31st, 2026 - Sweden's national outdoor championship featured the lowest participation in the NSL News archives. Only two teams competed across two competition classes, eliminating any direct opposition. New A Class team Mindblocks competed with the dive pool of the NSL 4-way Network, while Sweden's national 4-way team Echochamber mastered the ten AAA Class rounds with a 19.5 average.

Despite the lack of direct competition, the event still proved to be an adventurous one for Sweden's national 4-way team. It marked Echochamber's first outdoor competition of the year, following 17 training jumps before Round 1. The judges and Echochamber agreed to complete all ten competition rounds for the benefit of mutual competition practice.

Only the highly experienced team videographer, Anders Brouzell, overlooked the fact that the first jump of the day was already Round 1 of the competition. As he normally does during training, he filmed Echochamber partially on level. As a result, the judges could not award scoring points for the horizontal portion of the formations in Round 2, costing Echochamber four points.

The judges mistakenly entered the penalties on the InTime scoresheet for Round 1, which featured a different sequence, while Echochamber had actually repeated Round 2. The original video of the Round 2 re-jump shows outside center Rikard Rodensjö dealing with a loose cutaway handle. Echochamber lost five seconds of working time after the team detected the problem, reducing its scoring opportunities.

Echochamber at the Swedish Outdoor Nationals 2026

Echochamber took it easily, as there was no pressure at all. The 19.5 average, despite all the complications, was the team's best start to an outdoor season, Ulf Liljenbäck said from the tail slot. In fact, the same lineup had finished with a 19.5 average at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026 in Teuge last year.

The same Echochamber lineup also represented Sweden at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024, where they claimed the unofficial amateur world champion title with a 19.6 average. They will attempt to defend their position behind the full-time competitors in the FAI medal rankings this year in Eloy in October.

The national outdoor championship was a promising start to the World Meet year for Echochamber. The team concluded the Swedish meet week with a total of 42 training and competition jumps. The training schedule leading up to the world championship includes five additional training days in Sweden and a five-day training camp in Oceanside, California. They also plan one or two warm-up days at Skydive Arizona before Round 1 of the world championship. A total of approximately 100 training jumps should put Echochamber in position to average 20 points or more, a performance that all other contenders for the unofficial amateur world championship title will have to anticipate.
