Did You Know...

... that AA Class teams in Texas scored high on a Super Sequence?

Rookie Class awards in Most
posted Jul 23rd, 2026 - Last weekend featured an international leaderboard, with 4-way teams from the Czech Republic, Germany and the United States in competition action. However, the teams did not compete directly against one another in their respective categories. Only Czech 4-way teams competed in the AAA Class, while the German 4-way teams had the Rookie Class leaderboard to themselves.

Three U.S. teams from the Texas Skydiving League and two Czech teams competed in the AA Class. The three U.S. teams completed all ten rounds at Spaceland Houston, while the Czech teams finished after Round 5, as the NSL News reported on July 22nd.

The five AA Class teams still did not share a common leaderboard, as the Texas Skydiving League used a different competition draw than the NSL draw for the weekend. TNT and Atom+ had their own five-round duel with block-heavy sequences, and TNT still finished with a new team record average of 7.0. Atom+ opened the 2026 season at exactly the same level as in June 2025 and claimed the highest score in Round 3 from the otherwise dominant TNT team, which won all of the other rounds.

Rookie Class winner in Most: Skystumblers
31-pointer: Spaceland Pajama Party with coach Kyle Hermberg
The 10-round draw for the teams in Texas came from the opposite end of the AA Class dive pool. Round 2 featured a fast Super Sequence (M, F, H, J), which Spaceland Dallas Pajama Party took full advantage of. The team's 31-pointer in Round 2 is the highest outdoor AA Class score for a single round in the NSL News records. That performance laid the foundation for the new 12.1 team record average.

Pajama Party had already demonstrated its ability to capitalize on a Super Sequence in Round 9 (Q, A, D, E) of the Cloud Games in June, where the team posted a 19-pointer. The chances of encountering a Super Sequence with four random formations are higher in the AA Class than in the AAA Class, making it essential for AA teams to be prepared for a fast-scoring round.

The AA/Intermediate Class dive pool includes only 16 blocks, six fewer than the AAA/Open Class, while all 16 random formations remain part of the competition draw. As a result, the probability of drawing a Super Sequence in the AA Class is naturally higher. Even then, scoring opportunities can vary, as the random formations differ in their degree of difficulty. The three teams in Texas faced a Super Sequence with four of the easiest random formations. Pajama Party's record-setting score, together with the team's strong performances in the other rounds, confirmed its status as a leading contender for medals at the USPA Nationals in September.
