Did You Know...

... that Nakama and Trigger's Broom dueled on the same AAA Class leaderboard?

AA Class awards at the British Outdoor Nationals 2025
posted Jul 7th, 2026 - The third and final meet of the United Kingdom Skydiving League 2026 before this year's national outdoor championship was the smallest of the season, yet it still offered several interesting storylines in the run-up to Great Britain's most important competition of the year.

First of all, the competition draw for the only A Class team at Skydive Hibaldstow, XL Poo, confirmed that British teams have continued using the same A Class dive pool as in 2025. So far, only the dive pool in the United States has changed, as the NSL News reported on June 17th. It made little sense to introduce a new dive pool in Great Britain and other countries in the middle of the season, with A Class teams already well into their preparations for their national championships.

Some A Class teams, even in the United States, had to abandon the training and experience they had gained with the previous Blocks 8 and 19 after the opening meet of the Southern California Skydiving League, where Block 8 (Canadian T - Canadian T) appeared in the Round 2 sequence. However, only two teams completed the second round at Elsinore due to adverse weather conditions. News of the changes to the A Class dive pool, USPA's Beginner Class, reached other countries even later. Those countries had previously followed the synchronized competition draws of the NSL 4-way Network, and the affiliated leagues and federations ultimately decided to complete the 2026 season without adopting the USPA changes. Restoring synchronized competition draws will be a goal again for the 2027 season.

Nakama lineup in 2025
Block 19 (Ritz - Icepick) from the previous A Class dive pool was drawn for the second round of the United Kingdom Skydiving League meet last weekend. Just as in Elsinore in April, XL Poo and the two AAA Class teams were stopped by bad weather after Round 2. However, the A Class team will still be able to apply the experience gained with Block 19 at the upcoming national outdoor championship.

The two-team duel on the small AAA Class leaderboard was equally interesting. Trigger's Broom and Nakama both competed at the British Outdoor Nationals 2025, although they posted their scores on different leaderboards.

Nakama were concluding their first season in the AA Class after winning the A Class competition at the British Outdoor Nationals 2024. One year later, they also claimed the national AA Class title, while Trigger's Broom finished fifth on the AAA Class leaderboard. This season, Martyn Score has been replacing original Nakama member Debbie Dobson, who is recovering from an injury. At Skydive Hibaldstow, the two teams finally met as direct opponents in the same category and were separated by just a single point after the two completed rounds. Their close rivalry is likely to continue in the AAA Class competition at the national outdoor championship in August.
