Did You Know...

... that the XP Summer Classic features NMP PCH HayaBusa, Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed?

Golden Knights and NMP PCH HayaBusa in Laurinburg last June
posted Jun 3rd, 2026 - A very special event is coming up soon at the Paraclete XP Skydiving Center in Raeford, North Carolina. The indoor competition season concluded with the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026, and the NSL News coverage of the event has now been completed as well.

The 2026 outdoor competition season already got underway with the Shamrock Showdown 2026 - 1st Bob Hallett Memorial at Skydive DeLand. Although only two of the world's current top 4-way teams participated, the event benefited from first-class judging by Jim Rees, Claire King and Dirk Venter, along with the InTime scoring system and premium organizational support.

Several local and regional competitions within the NSL 4-way Network have also been completed, with many more scheduled as summer weather arrives across Europe and the northern regions of North America. Germany's Paranodon Cup and 4-way meets in the Czech Republic, Great Britain and the U.S. Midwest are on the calendar for the coming weekend and will use the same NSL competition draw, which will be published on Friday evening. Two weeks later, the annual Paraclete XP Summer Classic will welcome both 4-way and 8-way teams for what promises to be a particularly special edition of the event this year.

Arizona Airspeed lineup in 2025
Three of the world's best 4-way teams have committed to competing at this year's XP Summer Classic. Before the competition, they will even train together at the Golden Knights training center in Laurinburg, courtesy of an invitation from the U.S. Army. It will not be the first visit for NMP PCH HayaBusa, who have developed a special relationship with the Golden Knights through their shared status as military teams competing in CISM events. The NSL News has covered this unique connection on several occasions in the past.

NMP PCH HayaBusa visited Laurinburg at the same time last year but did not include the XP Summer Classic in their competition schedule. Arizona Airspeed made the cross-country trip from the western United States to gain valuable competition experience with their new lineup, while HayaBusa returned to Belgium after the training camp. As a result, the two American teams competed in Raeford without the Belgian top opponents.

Golden Knights and HayaBusa agreed that an opportunity like that should not be missed again, and both teams committed to competing in the outdoor event following this year's training camp. In addition, the Golden Knights received permission to invite Arizona Airspeed to join the two world-class teams in Laurinburg, just a short distance from the site of the Paraclete XP Summer Classic. The special arrangement has created an intriguing situation ahead of the competition. After spending a week training together, HayaBusa and Arizona Airspeed will make their first outdoor competition appearances of the year, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown in Raeford.

NMP PCH HayaBusa - Golden Knights - Arizona Airspeed at the Wind Games 2026
Arizona Airspeed lineup in 2026
It often seems as if the three major formation skydiving institutions are constantly competing against one another, as they did most recently at the Wind Games in January. The outdoor reality, however, has been quite different. In fact, the last time all three teams appeared on the same competition leaderboard was at the USPA Nationals 2017, when NMP PCH HayaBusa traveled to Skydive Perris to compete in both 4-way and 8-way (Fly-In Machine 44). The Belgian team won the 4-way competition with its signature lineup and finished second in 8-way behind the Golden Knights.

At the time, Arizona Airspeed held the title of U.S. national champion in 4-way Open, while the Golden Knights fielded a capable 4-way lineup made up largely of 8-way competitors (Jennifer Davidson, Matt Davidson) with limited 4-way training. The Golden Knights generally focused their efforts on 8-way competition, while Airspeed's 4-way teams rarely faced the U.S. Army's strongest and most extensively trained 4-way lineups at national championships or world championships. Neither team was a regular participant at World Cups, where entry is not limited to national champions.

HayaBusa's Dennis Praet and Jeroen Nollet were part of the 2017 Perris competition, where none of the current Golden Knights or Arizona Airspeed members competed in 4-way Open. Jesse Stahler competed with the Golden Knights' 8-way lineup at the time, while his primary 4-way focus was on VFS. He earned his USPA silver medal in 4-way VFS that year in addition to winning the 8-way competition. The NSL News will be on site to cover this special occasion at Skydive Paraclete XP.
