Did You Know...

... that seven teams were separated by just 12 points at Weembi?

Magic 4 from Lithuania
posted May 24th, 2026 - The NSL News explained earlier that the infamous NSL Power Rankings are based on several different factors, with scoring history and team lineups carrying the greatest weight. The more actively a team competes by attending as many events as possible, the better prepared it becomes for major championships. At the same time, the teams, NSL News and the audience may use more data for the “speculative predictions” used to project positions on the leaderboards of major events and to set realistic goals.

The NSL Power Rankings for the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026 predicted one of the most exciting contests of the entire event. Magic 4 from Lithuania, Flyspot Skt4Four from Poland and Bronteroc from Hungary were separated by just a single point (213–212–212) on the World Cup leaderboard. The same three Eastern European teams also occupied the identical positions on the European leaderboard.

The consistent rivalry between Magic 4 and Flyspot Skt4Four, in particular, probably provided more scoring data for the NSL Power Rankings than most teams usually generate. Magic 4 have regularly traveled from Lithuania to neighboring Poland to compete in the meets of the Flyspot Liga, where Flyspot Skt4Four and team captain Zbigniew "ZBig" Kordzikowski are based and continue to promote the development of formation skydiving competition in Poland. The third team in this tightly contested battle on the World Cup leaderboard, Hungary’s Bronteroc, is located too far away to compete regularly at Flyspot. Instead, the team traveled to Hurricane Factory Tatralandia in Slovakia in February to participate in the inaugural Slovak Open Championship.

Flyspot Sky4Four from Poland
The most recent scores between Magic 4 and Sky4Four prior to the FAI Indoor World Cup were recorded at the February meet of the Flyspot Liga, where Magic 4’s current lineup outscored Poland’s top home team by seven points (212–205). The Czech 4-way junior team Panthers also attended the competition and later met both Magic 4 and Sky4Four again at Weembi Lille.

At the FAI Indoor World Cup, Sky4Four cut the seven-point deficit to Magic 4 down to a single point. After a strong start, the Polish team held a four-point lead over the Lithuanians through Round 6. However, three point deductions in Round 7 allowed Magic 4 to catch up and ultimately finish with a one-point advantage.

Bronteroc encountered its own difficulties in Round 8 but recovered quickly, posting the soley highscores in the final two rounds to pull level with Sky4Four. The Hungarian and Polish teams had also been separated by a single point at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 at the Hurricane Factory Tatralandia, again in favor of Bronteroc (213–212). Both teams now posted matching 21.2 averages at their latest meeting. Magic 4, meanwhile, climbed from the bottom of the 4-way Open Class leaderboard in 2023 to the top position in this recent three-way battle.

Spain's Windabona Angels, the Czech Panthers and the French team Oblivion were expected to battle for similar positions on the FAI Indoor World Cup leaderboard in 4-way Open. Windabona Angels and Panthers eventually ended in a tie (201–201), just one average point behind the three Eastern European rivals who had been projected ahead of them.

The fourth French team on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard also finished within striking distance of the same group, posting a score of 205. Only Brazil Blue stood out as a different team on the NSL Power Rankings leaderboard. However, Brasil Blue, featuring a lineup of Netunos 8-way members, still fit well into the same competitive category. The Brazilian team finished between Oblivion, Windabona Angels and Panthers with a 20.2 average.

The seven teams competing for positions around 12th place ultimately finished within a spread of just 12 points, with Magic 4 leading the group on 213 and Panthers placing seventh with 201. Despite finishing at the bottom of this tightly packed group, Panthers still shared two of the highest round scores within the contest. Magic 4, Sky4Four and Panthers have all been back in action since then, and the NSL News will soon provide another update from Eastern Europe.
