Did You Know...

... that 15 teams in 4-way Women would be a record number?

Gold: China Hubei 1 at Weembi Lille
posted Apr 13th, 2026 - The highly convincing, gold-medal performance of China’s 4-way Women team from Hubei came as little surprise—neither to the other twelve teams on the leaderboard nor to experts and spectators. The same team had already won the 4-way Women competition at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024 and the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025.

A more unexpected result came from China’s second 4-way Women team, which raised its meet average from 23.3 in 2024 to 25.8 last week, securing the bronze medal and a second podium finish for China. Only the French Nephtys managed to separate the two Chinese teams on the 4-way Women leaderboard at Weembi Lille.

NFTO and XPG4 had both finished ahead of China’s second team on their home turf in Macau two years ago. However, NFTO arrived in Weembi Lille with a different lineup, and XPG4 did not return as a team. Three members of the XPG4 lineup from the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2026 (Jeana Billings, Natalie Arcia, Joy Jing) instead competed with Jillian Hix as part of the XP Angels at the Indoor World Cup. Neither NFTO nor the XP Angels likely expected to challenge China’s top team or Nephtys, while the second team from Hubei emerged as one of the biggest surprises of the competition with its 25+ scoring performance.

Bronze: China Hubei 2 at Weembi Lille
The 4-way Women competition at the Indoor World Cup in Weembi Lille had the potential to reach a record participation level. Only the FAI Dubai Mondial 2012 previously featured more teams, with entries from 14 different countries on the 4-way Women leaderboard. Last week in Weembi Lille, 13 teams from ten countries competed—still a new record for a World Cup event, where up to four teams per nation are allowed.

Two additional 4-way Women teams took part in the EASA Indoor Cup in Moscow, as mentioned in earlier NSL News updates. The Siberries even ranked within the Top 10 of the combined AAA Class leaderboard (4-way Open/4-way Women) after Round 2, as reported on April 9th. This combined leaderboard included all teams—regardless of gender category—as well as the six Russian teams that mirrored the official competition draw and schedule in their own wind tunnel in Moscow.

Two of those teams, Siberries and Aura Nomads, featured all-female lineups. Including them would bring the total number of 4-way Women teams to a record 15. Based on their scores, the Siberries would have pushed the French Nephtys from second to third place, leaving China with only the gold medal—assuming that the Russian judging matched the standards applied by FAI judges in Weembi Lille. The Siberries held onto their second-place position after Round 2, while Aura Nomads improved by one ranking position. However, the total of 15 teams remains an unofficial record, recognized only on the NSL’s combined 4-way Women leaderboard.
