Did You Know...

... that Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen placed second with a new lineup?

FAI bronze medals for Meltemi in Voss 2023
posted Mar 28th, 2026 - Two 4-way teams and two 8-way teams from Germany are registered for the FAI Indoor World Cup next month. Both 4-way teams are part of the NSL Power Rankings in Motion, and one of them had been considered a strong medal contender prior to the recent changes.

In fact, the 4-way Women team Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen has already earned FAI medals in the past. Linda Köb, Franziska Wiesler, Andrea Kleinschmidt, and Claire Rebhahn won World Cup bronze at Norway 2023, with Pablo Fahrenschon on camera, and also secured European FAI silver medals at the same event. They previously represented Germany in 4-way Women at the outdoor world championships in Eloy 2022 and Crystal Coast 2024. Linda Köb and Petra Jastram were founding members of the original 2021 lineup, and they are now training and competing alongside Franziska Wiesler and Nadeja Sievers.

Meltemi’s projected position behind China and Nephtys—within a competitive group of bronze medal contenders—shifted when the British 4-way Women team NFTO was added to the leaderboard with a late entry after the official deadline. Another adjustment to the NSL Power Rankings followed when the German 4-way Open Class team AERA Flystation was also accepted as a late entry by the host.

NFTO signature lineup at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024
NFTO in 2023—when Meltemi won the FAI outdoor bronze medals at Skydive Voss—did not feature the same lineup that will compete at the indoor world cup. At that time, Vana Parker and Sian Stokes were introducing Lucy Davies and Danni Hurt to high-level 4-way training and competition, with Simon Brentford on camera. The Norwegian team Thyra also placed ahead of NFTO.

The NFTO signature lineup (Vana Parker, Sian Stokes, Anna Lea, Elizabeth Kennedy) was already back together by November of the same year. Meltemi must therefore assume that either the 2022–2024 signature lineup, or a similar variation including Julia Swallow, will compete at Weembi Lille. This likely puts the bronze medal position out of reach for the six teams that had previously been considered contenders.

At the same time in 2023, Linda Köb and Petra Jastram were training and competing with the 4-way Women indoor team Piteraq, representing Germany at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023. The new Meltemi lineup has nearly reached Piteraq’s scoring level, posting a 21.4 average and earning silver medals behind the 4-way Open Class national team Airbus 4-way Illertissen. Airbus concluded their indoor season at the German indoor championship and will begin preparations for the outdoor world championship with a training camp at Skydive DeLand in early April.

Meltemi 2026 lineup
Meltemi have defined their schedule leading up to the upcoming indoor world cup, while the option of continuing through to the next indoor world championship in Germany in 2027 remains very realistic. Franziska Wiesler joined Meltemi for the 2023 season without prior AAA Class experience and finished the year with an FAI bronze medal. She had to leave the team at the end of the season to return to university, but she was ready this year to resume 4-way competition while continuing her studies.

Newest member Nadeja Sievers developed through the Paranodon Futura 4-way program in Illertissen. Her progression through the competition classes came with several local teams, and she has now reached the AAA Class world. Last year’s national outdoor championship with Paranodon Futura's 6.9 lineup marked her first AAA Class competition.

Linda Köb and Petra Jastram followed her development closely and completed several training weekends with her last year. They then decided to offer her the open spot on Meltemi. After concluding the 2025 season with the Futura team, she began training with Meltemi. The German 4-way Women team finished in second place at the national indoor championship earlier this month, posting a promising 21.4 average.
