Did You Know...

... that the NSL Power Rankings for the indoor world cup are in motion?

New scores: Ayro (BE)
posted Mar 27th, 2026 - The unofficial NSL Power Rankings featured in competition previews are naturally fluid, as participating and registered teams compete in other events during the lead-up to the main competition. The rankings are regularly scrutinized by audiences and experts, and they are adjusted whenever new scores are posted or updates become necessary.

It is less common, however, for the field of teams itself to change due to withdrawals and new additions. During the lead-up to the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026, the NSL Power Rankings have been more dynamic than usual for several reasons. The Dynos were removed from the 4-way Open Class leaderboard due to ineligibility, while Sweden’s Echochamber withdrew following an injury to team member Johan “Smögen” Edvall.

Typically, the field of teams becomes finalized after the registration deadlines. The first provisional entries for FAI/ISC events were due on January 25 this year, followed by the final submission deadline on February 22. However, late team registration is still possible: "Entries after the deadline will be approved only if capacity allows, and subject to 50 €/participant." The host, Weembi Lille, is accustomed to accommodating large numbers of teams and competitors and has so far allowed two additional teams to register for the indoor world cup.

New Scores: Ayro at the BENELUX Championship 2026
NFTO at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023
A new 4-way Open Class team from Germany, AERA Flystation, has been added to the preview leaderboard after attending their first competition at the German Indoor Nationals earlier this month. The second late entry is even more significant, as it has a direct impact on the competition for FAI medals in 4-way Women.

The withdrawal of the Dynos from the indoor World Cup allows Dynos members Vana Parker and Sian Stokes to rejoin their NFTO teammates—and they have done so. The UK delegation has now added NFTO to the 4-way Women competition. NFTO previously competed in 4-way Women at FAI world championships and world cups before a lineup featuring three NFTO members (Anna Lea, Vana Parker, Julia Swallow) joined forces with Pete Allum to compete in 4-way Open at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025 and at the British indoor championship last November.

NFTO now returns to the 4-way Women category, where their presence reshapes the competition. The six previously identified bronze medal contenders are now effectively competing for fourth place, just outside the podium positions. At the same time, NFTO is expected to challenge the leading teams from France and China for the gold and silver medals.

NFTO at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025
NFTO replaces Dynos in almost exactly the same position on the combined 4-way leaderboard. Dynos, with Julien Degen and Pål Kolbenstvedt in the lineup, had been expected to battle Skywalkers Most, Nephtys, and China for fourth place when the first NSL Power Rankings—including all registered teams in 4-way Open and 4-way Women—were published on March 12th.

NFTO’s 4-way Women lineup is now the third team projected to break into the Top 10 on the combined leaderboard. According to feedback from Gary Smith during his NSL Live Talk on March 20th, Skywalkers Most (Czech Republic) and Amnesya (Italy) are both expected to finish ahead of NFTO.

The six teams competing for the remaining two Top 10 positions are the same ones identified in this tight race on March 12th, although there have been some shifts within that group. Initially, nine of the ten Top 10 spots appeared to be secured before Dynos and Echochamber were removed. Now, those same six teams are vying for the two open positions.

Another notable development followed the conclusion of the BENELUX Indoor Championship last weekend. Both Dennis Praet and Gary Smith were impressed by the Out Of The Blue performance, which led to an upgrade in the NSL Power Rankings. As a result, the Dutch national team is now in a stronger and more secure position to claim one of the remaining Top 10 spots.
