Golden Knights at Paraclete XP: Quick transition to outdoors after indoor world cup
posted Mar 19th, 2026 - The German 4-way teams were next in line in the series of national indoor championships currently taking place ahead of the conclusion at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026, which will wrap up the indoor winter season in the second week of April. At least Aethers and Golden Knights are then expected to transition quickly to the outdoor environment for their next battle at the Shamrock Showdown 2026 - 1st Bob Hallett Memorial.

The unofficial indoor winter season—comprised of national indoor championships and culminating in the FAI/ISC indoor events—now occupies roughly half the year following the conclusion of national outdoor championships and the annual FAI/ISC outdoor world cups or world championships. This is despite the fact that indoor events require significantly less time and allow for more efficient training and competition, without the need for jump aircraft ascents and parachute descents. As a result, teams that compete in both environments must adapt quickly and decisively when switching between indoor and outdoor formats. In the eastern hemisphere, the seasonal order is roughly reversed.

The U.S. Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed, both set to compete at Skydive DeLand next month, have already completed their national indoor championship. However, only the Golden Knights will represent the United States at Weembi Lille. Arizona Airspeed has opted to skip the indoor world cup to focus on outdoor preparation. NSL News previously reported on February 15th how the French 4-way Open national team, Aethers, is managing its transitions between indoor and outdoor competition.

Airbus 4-way Illertissen - Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen at the German Indoor Nationals 2026
On to outdoor training and competition: Airbus 4-way Illertissen
The Dynos, an exclusively indoor team, traveled to Germany for the national indoor championship fully aware that they would be competing as a guest team. They were initially included in the NSL Power Rankings for the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026 in that same capacity; however, this has since been corrected in accordance with FAI/ISC rules governing world cups and world championships. The Dynos will continue to pursue their team goal of a 30-point average at the upcoming Weembi FS Cup, which will be their final event of the indoor season.

Three additional guest teams also competed in Munich last week. Skynamite, the former German national team in 4-way Women, now including Swiss male team member Marco Keller, secured a podium position and outperformed Germany’s most recent national team in the category, Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen.

The final standings on the German leaderboard confirmed the results from the previous qualification event for next year’s Indoor World Championship at the same venue. Airbus 4-way Illertissen has qualified to represent Germany in 4-way Open, while Meltemi may compete in 4-way Women. Airbus will also represent Germany at the outdoor world championship in Eloy this October. No German 4-way Women team qualified for that event at last year’s national outdoor championship. Like Airspeed, Airbus will skip the indoor world cup and now shift its focus to outdoor training.
