Did You Know...

... that the 4-way Women competition could become the FAI Indoor World Cup's highlight?

4-way Women awards at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025
posted Mar 10th, 2026 - The NSL News continues with the first NSL Power Rankings in 4-way Women at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026. The situation is similar to the 4-way Open category, where more than half of the teams that competed at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025 will return for the next FAI/ISC indoor event.

Both spectators and participants can once again look forward to a serious battle for the three sets of 4-way Women medals. In contrast, the 4-way Open Class competition will most likely feature a fight mainly for second place, as many 4-way experts still consider the French Aethers out of reach for NMP PCH HayaBusa and the Golden Knights.

The 4-way Women event, however, is set to deliver a rematch of the dramatic 10-round showdown at the indoor world championship at Paraclete XP. In that competition, China’s 4-way Women lineup eventually outscored France’s Nephtys by three points in a controversial finish. Both teams will return with the same lineups they had in April 2025, and even the best 4-way Open Class teams may have to work hard to match their scoring pace. The battle for the 4-way Women gold medals could well become the highlight of the entire competition at Weembi Lille next month.

China - Nephtys at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2026
Bronze medals for Germany's Meltemi at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023
China and Nephtys are also outdoor teams, which confirms the current dominance of hybrid indoor–outdoor training and competition in the medal rankings. Both teams finished in medal positions with their outdoor lineups at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024, where China earned the silver medals and France (Nephtys) took bronze.

Nephtys have only Pamela Lissajoux, Marie Pineau and Elise Poindron remaining from their outdoor lineup in 2024. Former Nephtys member Clementine Le Bohec returned for indoor training and competition last year, and the same lineup is now ready for the rematch with China. The U.S. team XPG4 won the outdoor world championship at Crystal Coast 2024 but did not continue with the same lineup afterward.

The Paraclete XP delegation actually fielded two 4-way teams with all-female lineups at the recent Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2026: a new XPG4 lineup (Jeana Billings, Jennifer Davidson, Natalie Arcia, Joy Jing), and Jeana Billings and Jennifer Davidson also competed with Anna Brunner and Laura Galdamez for Paraclete XP4, who won the U.S. indoor bronze medals in the 4-way Open category.

Silver medals for Norway's Thyra at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025
The absence of a U.S. team in the medal positions and on the leaderboard opens the door to the podium for several teams who may not have expected to be in medal contention at Weembi Lille. Norway’s Thyra and Germany’s Meltemi have both reached FAI/ISC podiums in the past—Thyra most recently at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, and Meltemi at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023. Naturally, they emerge as the leading contenders among the teams now fighting for the bronze medals.

However, Thyra and Meltemi are likely to face strong opposition. Teams that previously saw little chance of winning medals at Weembi Lille against China, France, and the United States may now be even more motivated. In fact, four additional teams appear close enough to challenge Thyra and Meltemi for the bronze medals.

The two Swiss teams, Airdrops and WingX, recently faced each other again at the Wind Games 2026, while Italy’s new Valkyrie lineup was not far behind when they last competed in October. They have since had four months of training to close the gap with the other medal contenders. At the same time, a new Finnish team could play a similar role in 4-way Women as the Pro Team did during its active years. Emilia Sormunen and Eija Suvala both trained and competed at a very high level with Finland’s former long-time 4-way champions. Their new lineup with Pirre Löfgren and Rika Nakamura is hardly a dark horse anymore after recently posting a 19+ average, and they have Echochamber member and coach Mattias Nord preparing them for the Indoor World Cup.
