posted Oct 8th, 2025 - Spain was the last one of the countries with teams competing at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 that held their national outdoor championships after the event at Skydive Teuge. Only the U.S. teams in the Netherlands are now left to post their last outdoor scores of the year at Skydive Arizona later this month. The Golden Knights still have the CISM World Championship ahead of them in November, as the NSL News reported on September 26th.

The Spanish national team in 4-way Open, Papea, have a very similar meet schedule. They competed at the outdoor world cup and defended their national outdoor championship title successfully a month later at Skydive Spain. They will meet the Golden Knights again at the CISM World Championship in Qatar next month.

Papea are usually the team right behind the CISM medal positions, which have been taken by NMP PCH HayaBusa, Golden Knights and Qatar Tigers in the recent years. They are patiently waiting for an opportunity to win a set of CISM 4-way medals while they compete in Accuracy and Style at the same time. Participation of Spain in 4-way Open at FAI World Championships between 1985 and 2024

Papea lineups have consistently attended the FAI world cups and world championships since 2017. It became a blessing for Spain's participation records when the country's military forces decided to send their 4-way Open Class team to the FAI events, as well. Spain was a very consistent factor in 4-way Open Class competition and never missed a world championship between 1985 and 2006. Then a decade of absence followed, with one exception in Dubai 2012.

Papea brought Spain back to FAI/ISC leaderboards in 2017 and have not missed any of the events so far. Ernesto Fernandez Zaldivar, Ivan Campos Gomez de Figueroa, Miguel Antonio Gomez Rivas, Jose Vicente Martinez Cano and Christian Molto Gonzalez on camera competed at the world cup in Gera 2017, and the lineups have changed regularly. Ivan Garcia Estrada Mateo, Miguel Antonio Gomez Rivas, José Carlos González Herrera and Oscar Marsal Hernandez are the current lineup, with Isaac Fernandez Garcia on camera.

The Golden Knights have to train two different sets of exits and first sub-terminal page, while Papea decided to simply launch the same Star (M) all the time, at FAI/ISC events, and at CISM competitions too, where the Star is required as the first formation of each sequence. Papea launched the Star to begin each round at the outdoor world cup, as well, and they did the same to win the next national 4-way championship title. Papea battled with Out Of The Blue (NL) and Ayro (BE) for the last Top 10 position in Teuge, which the Dutch team eventually claimed. The 17.9 average performance after the seven rounds at the national championship could have been enough to take the 10th place.
