Did You Know...

... that Thyra controlled the 4-way Women leaderboard behind Nephtys Maubeuge?

Thyra at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025
posted Oct 7th, 2025 - Nephtys Maubeuge, the French national team in 4-way Women, received most of the attention of the five teams who competed in this category at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 for a good reason. The Nephtys actually finished in 4th place on the combined AAA Class leaderboard, right behind the medal positions in 4-way Open and ahead of all other 4-way Open Class teams. France won another set of FAI gold medals in 4-way Women and swept the horizontal 4-way formation skydiving events with Aethers Lille and Nephtys Maubeuge.

The French 4-way success at Skydive Teuge overshadowed the fact that Norwegian 4-way Women team Thyra won their first set of FAI silver medals at world cups or world championships with a new team record average in a 10-round competition. The 13.7 average also accomplished a more than respectable 14th place on the combined AAA Class leaderboard with the 21 teams.

Thyra dominated the competition behind the Nephtys as much as the French team did in 1st place on the 4-way Women leaderboard. Nephtys and Thyra both did not give away one single round to their direct opponents. Only XP Angels, the strongest of the two U.S. teams in 4-way Women, managed to tie one Thyra score in Round 8.

Thyra's new team record average was generated by the third different lineup in the last three years. Coach Carl-Erik Tuv, DeLand Norgies FAI 4-way bronze medalist of 1999, 2001 and 2003, had more consistency in mind when he launched the Norwegian 4-way project and the 4-way Women lineup of Thyra in 2022.

Unfortunate circumstances took the control over the consistency out of his hands, and he had to improvise every year in a different way. Only his daughter, Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv, the team's outside center, started with the team in 2022 and never missed a Thyra competition ever since.

The changing and unfortunate circumstances in the team's past did not discourage the Tuv family and the Norwegian 4-way delegation. The FAI silver medals at the outdoor world cup with another new lineup became a well deserved compensation for the difficulties with continuing the efforts and dealing with the changes in the lineups. In fact, it is quite impressive how Carl-Erik Tuv managed to still show some progression despite the challenging circumstances year by year.

Original Thyra member Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv had actually consistent company at each of the three FAI events that her team attended since 2022. Team videographer Dennis Barstad was filming Thyra at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023, at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024, and at the FAI Outdoor World Cup this year. He is also a member of the Norwegian VFS team Blue Pelican and won another FAI silver medal in Teuge, after double duties in VFS and 4-way Women. He was also in the Pelicans lineup that won FAI silver medals at Crystal Coast last year.

Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv started with Silvana Disch, Camilla Marnor and Julia Heimdall-Hansen in the lineup and finished in 4th place on the world cup leaderboard, 3rd place on the European leaderboard, on home turf at Skydive Voss in 2023. Inside center Silvana Disch had to step back shortly before the world championship 2024, and Ditta Valsdottir was helping out on a very short call.

Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv, Silvana Disch and Dennis Barstad were back together for the 2025 season, with new members Anna Fasting and Vilde Hansen in the lineup. They trained and competed together indoors and outdoors this year before posting the new team record average and stepping onto the world cup podium, for the first time beyond the integrated European championship awards. FAI world championship medals in Eloy 2026 are probably the next goal for the Tuv family.
