posted Jul 25th, 2025 - The situation in 8-way Open and 4-way Women of the FAI European Championship 2025 is not as competitive as it is in 4-way Open for the bronze medal position.

Two 8-way teams from Great Britain are registered for the event. The first one, Cark8, will probably take the 2nd place and the FAI silver medals behind the German Airbus 8-way team who seem to be out of reach, even after a recent change in the lineup. Germany did not send an 8-way team to Norway in 2023, after winning FAI bronze medals at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022, then again last year at Crystal Coast. However, the Airbus 8-way team will be at Skydive Teuge to win the European gold medals and probably another set of FAI medals on the world cup leaderboard.

Airbus is done with the competition season after the world cup and will miss the German national outdoor championship less than a week later. Operation Adler will have the whole top of the German 8-way leaderboard for themselves this year. Only one team per nation is eligible for the official ranking positions and medals on the European championship leaderboards, while up to four teams may still compete in the world cup. The two British 8-way teams will compete internally for the one medal position, and both will also try to finish ahead of the Dutch 8-way team. Three teams from three different countries will generate a leaderboard that will have its own medals and an award ceremony, which was not the case for the European 8-way championship event in Norway 2023.

The 4-way Women teams did have their own European championship ceremony after the completion of the event, and home team Thyra won bronze medals for their country, as the NSL News reported on 11 September 2023. Thyra, with a new lineup this year, have the chance to step up from 3rd place to the silver medal position, as Germany's Meltemi have not continued this year.

In fact, Meltemi member Claire Rebhahn has joined the new Airbus 4-way Open Class lineup. Her new team will probably win the national outdoor championship this year, then compete at the next world championship in 4-way Open, as well.

Thyra will not be able to offer the French Nephtys any opposition in 4-way Women, who will mostly look at the scores on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard and have neither a challenger on the European nor on the world cup 4-way Women leaderboards. Thyra still have to watch out for the Dutch 4-way Women team who could become a threat for the European silver medals. The Norwegian team has much more work cut out in the world cup competition where the two U.S. teams are both aiming at the medal positions. All four teams behind Nephtys could be contenders for the two open spaces on the 4-way Women podium.
