Did You Know...

... that the British A Class situation promises exciting competition?

AA Class winner Nakama with A Class winner Frquency
posted Jul 14th, 2025 - The NSL News covered the AAA/AA Class competition of the United Kingdom Skydiving League at the third meet of this year in Netheravon with the update on July 7th. British Army Volt4ge (AAA) and Nakama shared their respective leaderboards with 4-way teams from the Czech Republic that weekend.

The same update pointed out that the competition draw for participating leagues and teams in the NSL 4-way Network usually creates overlapping sequences between the traditional four different categories, after a random draw for the AAA Class competition trickles down.

Three of the ten sequences in Netheravon had identical sequences between the AAA and AA draw. Volt4ge and Nakama had the opportunity to compare their scores in Round 2 and Round 3 across the two leaderboards, not only with the Czech teams who posted their scores for the same sequences in Most. There was a third overlapping sequence in Round 9 (4,C,6) that only the Czech teams Skywalkers Junior and TNT could apply. The weather in the Czech Republic allowed the completion of all ten rounds, while the British teams came only to Round 4 in AAA/AA and Round 3 in A/RRR. Overlapping sequences can also be drawn between the AA/A and A/RRR categories, always depending on the random draw for the AAA Class competition.

RRR Class teams Utter and Total C4rnage
A Class and RRR Class teams connect with each other across the leaderboards whenever any RRR Class sequence matches the A Class. There is always a good chance for this occasion, as the A Class dive pool includes only eight of the 22 blocks.

The British 4-way teams had both leaderboards for themselves in Netheravon, as the Czech teams posted scores only on the AAA and AA leaderboards. The multitude of Czech 4-way juniors are legally and practically not ready to jump from planes and transition only gradually from indoor to outdoor training and competition, as Skywalkers Junior have done it in the past decade.

The eight British 4-way teams in the A and RRR categories at Netheravon could not share their leaderboards with teams in the Czech Republic or at any other locations, and they could not even look across their own two leaderboards to compare the scores. Round 5 (H,B,O) and Round 8 (F,N,Q) offered the opportunities for direct comparison, which were not completed due to the weather situation.

New A Class contender: Frequency in action
At least the A Class competition still offered some insights of the situation in Great Britain before the national outdoor championship, which is scheduled for the weekend before the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 at Skydive Teuge in the Netherlands.

The three A Class teams who competed in Netheravon were separated by only three points after the four completed rounds, and they all performed on a scoring level that brings them probably into contention for British A Class medals.

Last year's winner, Nakama, now upgraded to the AA Class competition, finished far ahead of the rest of the field in 2024. Bootie Call and REME Lightning both were on last year's A Class leaderboard, as well, and Bootie Call won bronze medals with a 6.3 average. Last year's silver medalists, University of 4ork, were not far ahead of Bootie Call in 2024. However, there is apparently a new top contender on the leaderboard. Frequency actually won the competition in Netheravon by a point over Bootie Call. It was a block-heavy competition draw in the first four rounds, which brings the same three teams probably to a similar level that it took to win silver and bronze medals a year ago. Nakama will not be in the way of A Class medals this year, and they will try to get to the top positions on the AA Class leaderboard.
