Support the NSL News in 2025 - Preview of FAI World Cup 2025

Did You Know...

... that Thyra has joined the 4-way Women field at the FAI World Cup in Teuge?

Thyra in 2022
posted Jul 10th, 2025 - The field of teams in 4-way AAA/Women has grown to five after Norway registered their second team for the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, Thyra. 4-way AAA/Open Class team Agera compete for Norway with the same lineup as in 2024, and they are expected to be once again in the competition for the Top 10 positions, possibly for the 4th place, as well.

Thyra won the bronze medals in 4-way AAA/Women at FAI's European Championship that was a part of the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023. The Thyra team project was launched in 2022 with the support of former DeLand Norgies member Carl-Erik Tuv. A year later, they placed 3rd on the European leaderboard, 4th of seven teams at the outdoor world cup.

They made plans for the 2024 season until the FAI Outdoor World Championship and had bad luck when team member Silvana Disch had to withdraw due to illness before the departure for the last training camp at Skydive DeLand and the following trip to North Carolina for the 4-way AAA/Women competition at Crystal Coast. Former Arcteryx member Ditta Valsdottir stepped in at the very last minute, and Thyra were able to complete all ten rounds. The new lineup with outside center Ditta Valsdottir could at least maintain their performance and scoring level with the highly experienced substitute.

Thyra in 2023
A new lineup, with returning members Silvana Disch and Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv, came back for the 2025 season. Thyra, now with Anna Fasting and Vilde Hansen, competed at Norway's indoor championship, as the NSL News reported on March 27th.

Eventually, the new Thyra lineup were added to the Norwegian delegation, which now includes the same two teams in the horizontal formation skydiving events who competed for Norway in Voss 2023 and Crystal Coast 2024, Agera and Thyra.

The registration of Thyra for the 4-way AAA/Women competition at Skydive Teuge makes it an interesting field behind the Nephtys. The French national team has apparently no serious opponent, and the new lineup, with Gaelle Giesen for Clementine Le Bohec, (Pamela Lissajoux, Alexandra Petitjean, Marie Pineau) will walk away with the world cup gold medals. Only a visit of the 4-way AAA/Women team from China, a NFTO reunion or a team from Russia, could possibly make it a competition on the top of the leaderboard in this event. Two reigning XPG4 world champions (Michelle Karamon, Brenn Richards) will actually be present at the outdoor world cup, where they compete in 4-way AAA/Open with Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard.

Thyra at the Outdoor World Cup 2023
Thyra in 2024
The other four currently registered teams seem to be so close to each other that any of them could probably win silver or bronze medals. Only two of the five registered teams will leave the Netherlands empty-handed. The two U.S. teams, XP Angels and Perris 4ever were close to each other when they qualified for the outdoor world cup at the USPA National Championship 2024, less than a year ago.

Both teams were planning to travel to the Netherlands, and they had enough time to train as much as they could. Thyra has a new lineup and actually started later with preparations for the event at the end of August. However, at least two team members, Silvana Disch and Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv, have international meet experiences together by now, more than the two U.S. teams.

Neither XP Angels nor Perris 4ever or Thyra will be able to estimate what to expect from the home team in this event from the Netherlands. There surely is the possibility and opportunity for a Dutch team to win a world cup medal, which does not happen very often. In fact, no team from the Netherlands has yet won a set of FAI medals, at least not at world championships. If team member Mieke Mulder can get her team mates Sherida Verhoogh, Lianne Dijkhuizen, and Pauline Koning to the same level where her former team Pulse was performing, then the Dutch delegation is in the game for FAI medals.
