Did You Know...

... that Impulse Rhode Island improved their average at Skydive New England?

Impulse Rhode Island at the NESL 2000 July meet
posted Jul 25th, 2000 - Robbie Spencer's team Impulse Rhode Island keeps charging toward the top of the leaderboard of the Eastern Skies. At last weekend's second season meet of the New England Skydiving League, Impulse won the Advanced Class with a 12.2 average. The new team's season average of 11.6 is tying the FSL team Zephyrhills Frost in 4th place of the Eastern Skies. With these results, Impulse are slowly putting themselves in a position of medal contention at this year's USPA Nationals.

Impulse team members are Robbie Spencer (Alternate), Dennis Rook (Point), Jim Rees (Tail), Tom Hendricks (Inside Center), Chuck Greely (Outside Center) and Rick Smith (Video). All team members are experienced competitors. As individuals, they have been competing and winning medals at the USPA Nationals with well-known teams in the past, like Mass Transit, Air Buddha and Mr. Burble. Player coach and team leader Robbie Spencer won a bronze medal at the FAI World Championship 1997 with the South African 4-way team Equanimity.

This year's Air Buddha lineup competed for the first time in 2000 at this meet, hosted by Skydive New England. Pepperell Expedition won the Intermediate Class competition with a 9.3 average. Pepperell Event Horizon gave local rival Expedition a strong competition round by round, but did not complete the last round. Both teams took turns scoring the highscores of the rounds.

Event Horizon are still in 1st place of the NESL rankings after the first two meets of the year. The team is also still holding the 1st place of all Intermediate Class teams in the country, regarding the season average. The third meet of the New England Skydiving League will be hosted by the Boston-Providence Skydiving Center in Rhode Island on the September 9 weekend.
