Did You Know...

... that all French 4-way generations since 2000 met at the indoor championships?

Growing Deep Blue family in 2015
posted Mar 25th, 2022 - The previous update after the French Indoor Nationals mentioned briefly that Aerokart Deep Blue's complete 2010 lineup had a reunion at the event. The same lineup had initiated a 6-year stretch of French dominance in 4-way Women. In fact, Deep Blue were one of the best AAA Class 4-way teams in the world and would have placed 6th in 4-way Open at the FAI World Meet 2010 where they won the first 4-way Women gold medals for France.

Only Amelie Tirman continued with the new French national team in 2011 for a second gold medal in Dubai 2012. Her 2010 team mates grew their families and kept in touch, with reunion events here and there.

The same update also mentioned that Deep Blue members Amelie Tirman and Francoise Simons-Hamouchi launched the French 4-way junior project at Aerokart, together with coach Marin Ferre, French 4-way world champion of 1999 and 2003.

This year's national indoor championships turned into a reunion in many ways, where different generations of French world champions and celebrities connected with each other, either in the Aerokart flying chamber or in the meet environment.

French Formation Skydiving sweep in Menzelinsk 2010
The AAA Class leaderboard included all generations of French 4-way competitors since 2000, including the current French 4-way Junior team. Julien Losantos was in the 4-way Open Class lineup that won FAI world meet silver in 2001, 2004 and 2006. He joined forces (Weembi Nice) with Julien Degen, 8-way world champion of 2006 and 2008, 4-way world champion of 2010, and with 8-way world champion team mate Bruno Perin.

Julien Degen and Bruno Perin met and battled with their 8-way world champion team mate of 2006, Emmanuel Sarrazin, who has been player-coaching Once Pakoi. Weembi Nice won by three points. Julien Degen also outscored his own second team, St Flow Weembi by the same three points.

Julien Degen also finished ahead of Aerokart Deep Blue by one single point. The direct opponents at the French indoor nationals were on separate leaderboards in Menzelinsk 2010 where France won all four Formation Skydiving events, including 4-way VFS, and current national coach Mathieu Bernier became the only competitor in history with 4-way and 8-way gold medals at the same event. The most current French 4-way generations took the first two places on the AAA Class leaderboard, and the 4-way Junior national team finished in 7th place.

Nephtys Weembi - HF Cubs at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
First competition together: Gaelle Giese, Jessica Thebault, Elise Poindron, Pamela Lissajoux
The French indoor championship was the first competition for the new French national team in 4-way Women, who will represent the country in both events, indoor and outdoor. The Aerokart flying chamber became the first meet environment for the new lineup that the NSL News introduced on January 23rd.

Pamela Lissajoux, Gaelle Giesen, Elise Poindron and Jessica Thebault distanced themselves easily from the other French AAA Class teams, while the indoor experts of the former Aerokart juniors and Mathieu Quizy won their second competition together far ahead of the French 4-way Women team.

Aerokart Monaco Akdemie lifted their meet average from 24.8 in October to 26.0 at the French indoor nationals and are now probably in medal range for the upcoming FAI Indoor World Cup.

The 23.0 average of France Aerodyne Cypres confirms the expected medal position on the top of the 4-way Women leaderboard in Charleroi. However, it may not be enough to keep the HF Cubs indoor experts from taking the top spot in 4-way Women, after winning the 4-way Junior indoor world title in 2019.
