Did You Know...

... that 48 teams plan to compete at the indoor world cup in April?

No break: Paraclete XP Indoor Championships
posted Feb 17th, 2022 - The 4-way indoor winter season has been in full swing, and several countries are running their national indoor championships before the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 takes place in April at Airspace in Charleroi, Belgium.

Most of the national indoor championships are not the qualification events for this year's indoor world cup, as there would not be much time between qualification and the FAI/ISC event in April. The indoor world meet of 2023 is the qualification goal for the recent events, just as last year's national outdoor championships were mostly the qualifiers for the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving in Eloy this October.

Czech Republic, Great Britain, Spain, Norway have already completed their indoor nationals, and the U.S. championships at Paraclete XP are scheduled for end of next week. Germany and France follow in March when NMP PCH HayaBusa and Arizona Airspeed will face each for the first time since January 2020 at the Shamrock Showdown outdoor competition.

The Paraclete XP Indoor Championship has been the only 4-way event in the world that carried on with the annual 4-way and 8-way competition in the last three years without much loss of participation, and this year's event will surely continue with the highest indoor turnout in the United States.

The FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 is the comeback event for international teams under the umbrella of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI - World Air Sports Federation) and its International Skydiving Commission (ISC).

The FAI Indoor World Meet 2019 at Weembi Lille was the last event before the corona virus crisis, and this year's world cup event in Charleroi seems to indicate that teams and competitors are ready for the restart.

The current list of pre-registered teams includes a total of 48 teams in 4-way Open, 4-way Women and 4-way Junior combined. The 48 teams plan to travel to Belgium coming from 20 different countries in the world, except for NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash, who have the shortest travel distances this year.

The number of 48 teams would be record participation since FAI/ISC adopted indoor competition in 2014 and held their first indoor world meet at the Hurricane Factory in 2015, with a total of 27 teams. The standing record for an indoor world cup are the 39 teams in the same three 4-way events at Flyspot in Poland in 2016.

The Ramch Pro Shop: Donna and Kamuran "Sonic" Bayrasli
The NSL News has successfully completed plans for live coverage from Belgium in April, thanks to the passionate support of several NSL News fans who donated to help cover the expenses, and to two more special and very passionate 4-way and R2G fans, Kamuran "Sonic" Bayrasli and his wife Donna, who run the Ranch Pro Shop together.

The NSL News preview of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 begins with the introduction of the preliminary 4-way delegations from the 20 different countries in the same three events, which will soon be followed by the NSL Power Rankings.

The overview of all currently pre-registered teams is showing that Russia is bringing the largest delegation to Belgium. The total of seven teams is not only the highest number in participation. The Russian 4-way teams will be medal contenders in all three events, and Bubbles are probably the top contender for indoor gold in 4-way Women.

The French delegation is in second place with five teams, and the 4-way Women lineup will try to defend the world's top spot of 2019. The Czech delegation includes the 4-way Junior world champions of 2019, HF Cubs, who will compete for new medals in 4-way Women. The U.S. delegation includes Arizona Airspeed, who will challenge NMP PCH HayaBusa for the 4-way Open Class top spot in the indoor world - with two former R2G members, who Kamuran "Sonic" Bayrasli will follow live online day and night...
