Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa added their 14th CISM title to their gold medal collection?

New member introduction: NMP PCH HayaBusa
posted Nov 24th, 2021 - NMP PCH HayaBusa has not been seen much at event sites or on any leaderboards since Michele Silvi joined the lineup in 2019. In fact, the complete team, or members of the current lineup, have appeared more on NSL News computer screens than at indoor or outdoor events.

The Belgian 4-way world champions took the 1st place at the USPA Nationals 2019. Then they won the last Wind Games in January 2020, which was the team's previous live event before the pandemic began to interfere with everything.

The new HayaBusa lineup used the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 for the first test with inside center Michele Silvi and videographer David Grauwels, when it was possible for them to complete any training or competition rounds at chosen locations.

One year later, they still won the next world championship title at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 without too much opposition. The next HayaBusa scores and videos were now posted at the CISM military world championships.

NMP PCH HayaBusa - Qatar Tigers at the 2021 CISM Military World Championships
Last round at the CISM World Championship 2021
The same event was canceled in 2020, after NMP PCH HayaBusa had won their 13th CISM title in Wuhan, China, in 2019. This week, 19 military teams were back for their championship event in Qatar, and the Belgians had no problem to add the 14th title to their CISM collection, this time with the new lineup and Belgian soldier Michele Silvi.

HayaBusa won again miles ahead of the Qatar Tigers, even though the new lineup did not dominate the competition as overwhelmingly as in 2019. HayaBusa won all eight rounds in 2019 with a 35.5 record average, while they gave away one round to the Qatar Tigers this week.

It was only possible after four point deductions, which reduced the 35 points in working time to 31 on the leaderboard. However, the Qatar Tigers did not win any rounds over Belgium in 2019, or ever before, and their 31.3 average is also on a similar level as in 2019, when they finished with 32.0 after eight rounds.

HayaBusa's CISM average dropped from 35.5 in China to 34.0 in Qatar, which reduced the difference between the HayaBusa lineup of 2019 and the Tigers significantly. However, the Belgians were still the same miles ahead of any other CISM teams.

Qatar Tigers on home turf
Three of the teams at the CISM championship had also competed at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 with the different rules and different dive pool and sequences. As NMP PCH HayaBusa and Qatar Tigers, the Spanish national 4-way team Papea represents the country at FAI and CISM world meets both.

All three teams had met each other in Tanay in August before traveling to Qatar last week. The Papea Masculino team, which is the all-male lineup of the Spanish military, benefited from the smallest field in FAI world meet history and finished in 5th place.

HayaBusa won the Tanay Mondial after the six rounds in August by 33 points over the Qatar Tigers. The 32.2 average in Russia was only 1.8 average points behind the much easier CISM sequences and explains the overwhelming dominance at the FAI world meet even better.

The Qatar Tigers are probably happy after the CISM meet, as well. They moved significantly closer to the 4-way world champions from Belgium with their 31.3 average on home turf, after the 26.7 in Tanay. However, it is still a long way to go for any 4-way team in the world to reach the HayaBusa level.
