Did You Know...

... that the Texas delegation had a very successful visit in North Carolina?

posted Mar 16th, 2021 - The NSL News mentioned with the last Indoor Cloud League update from iFLY Dallas on February 15th that ICL organizer Kyle Hermberg would be sporting two teams for the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021.

The aftermath story on February 15th then reported the tight competition in the AA/Intermediate Class. Kyle Hermberg himself finished only 11 points away from defending the indoor title with his new team, Dallas Dynasty, and he took USIS silver medals back to Texas this year.

The second team from Texas, Flying Unicorn Circus In Training, won the gold medals in the Rookie Class, and the Texas delegation can look back at a very successful visit at Paraclete XP at this year's event.

Both teams were well prepared for the indoor championships. Two of the Flying Unicorn Circus members In Training (Pressly Bonner, Tarynn Ecton) had started with outdoor training and competition last year. Kyle Hermberg guided the team through the first competition, the October meet of the Texas Skydiving League. At the same time, the team members attended the ICL events at iFLY Dallas regularly for indoor training and competition practice.

Kyle Hermberg's team, Dallas Dynasty, was a product of the ICL events, as well, where the team members met frequently and eventually decided to form Dallas Dynasty and compete at the Paraclete XP event. Both teams had their last ICL competition practice at iFLY Dallas before traveling to North Carolina.

Dallas Dynasty, now with the team name on the ICL leaderboard in February, performed the AAA/AA sequences for the iFLY Dallas team. They did not have to expect a slot-switching sequence for the Paraclete XP event, as they competed in the AA/Intermediate Class.

However, the team members had posted AAA Class scores and videos at previous ICL events to prepare themselves for the next step into the unlimited 4-way world.

Three of the Flying Unicorn Circus members In Training (Christina Edwards, Pressly Bonner, Tarynn Ecton) performed all three Rookie Class sequences (RRR - RR - R) of the Indoor Cloud League with player-coach Kyle Hermberg in February at iFLY Dallas. The 13-pointer for the RRR sequence could not be used for the leaderboard, as the same lineup can only post scores in two neighboring categories.

Rookie Class awards at Paraclete XP
4th Flying Unicorn Circus member In Training at the Paraclete XP competition was Raj Sarkar, who has also been a regular at Kyle Hermberg's ICL events at iFLY Dallas. He had posted A Class scores in November, together with Pressly Bonner, Tarynn Ecton and player-coach Kyle Hermberg.

Eventually, the complete lineup of the Flying Unicorn Circus In Training traveled to North Carolina, where Kyle Hermberg competed only with his own team, Dallas Dynasty. The Rookie Class team was well prepared and did not need him to secure the gold medals for the Texas delegation.

Flying Unicorn Circus In Training won with a lead of 21 points after six rounds. The Rookie Class teams had a shorter competition due to the smaller dive pool of only the 16 random formations, which are almost exhausted after five rounds. Random formations G (Cataccord) and F (Open Accordian) appeared twice in the draw to complete Round 6.

Baby Cadence, with USPA Intermediate Class gold medalists of 2018 in the lineup, former TSC Cadence members Joshua Lukes and Brandon Kashani, had more work to finish in 2nd place. They were one point behind going into the last round and finished like a champion with the highest Rookie Class score of the competition.
