Did You Know...

... that the top 4-way spot in Poland has never been secure?

Poland's national indoor and outdoor champions: Flyspot Sky4Four
posted Dec 31st, 2020 - The update from Poland on December 28th featured the AAA Class competition between the three new teams in this Open Class category, MAD Team, Flyspot One2Three and Flyspot Omega.

The actual AAA Class winner, Flyspot Sky4Four, did not have to look back, as there is no Polish 4-way team yet who could be a serious threat for the national indoor and outdoor team. In fact, Sky4Four was as far ahead of the team in 2nd place (27) on the AAA Class leaderboards in October (22) and November (22), as well.

The distance to the new AAA Class 3-team group behind Sky4Four has actually increased in December, despite the slower competition draw.

There is no doubt that the three new AAA Class teams will try to reduce the distance and may eventually challenge the Polish top team, which will make the situation in Poland even more interesting. Sky4Four have settled on the current performance and scoring level and are a visible target for the future challengers.

No Mercy with Joey Jones at the Polish Indoor Open 2019
The situation in Poland was different until only a year ago. The Flyspot Polish Open 2019 at the end of November was the last event that Poland's national team in 4-way Women, No Mercy, attended before going into meet hibernation.

No Mercy and Flyspot Sky4Four have been battling for the 4-way top spot in Poland for several years. The 4-way Open Class team had the upper hand in the early years of this duel (2014/2015). No Mercy took the top spot away from Sky4Four when coach Joey Jones began working with the team on a regular basis.

The 4-way Women team won all duels in 2017 over Flyspot Sky4Four and also scored higher at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018, where Sky4Four competed in 4-way Open. Sky4Four now had Anna Baranska in the lineup who had joined the team at the beginning of the 2017 season.

Both teams then staid away from each other at any meets for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Flyspot Sky4Four with David Grauwels at the Polish Indoor Open 2019
The situation changed again at the beginning of the 2019 season, when Sky4Four won the first duel at the Flyspot Liga event in March.

Both teams then competed for Poland at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, and Sky4Four scored significantly higher in 4-way Open (23.1) than No Mercy in 4-way Women (21.9) using the same competition draw.

Sky4Four confirmed the power positions early in 2019 at the May meet of the Flyspot Liga (22.5 - 20.0) before both teams were back at the Flyspot wind-tunnel for the Flyspot Polish Open 2019.

That's where the last change happened. No Mercy won by seven points and have not been back ever since. MAD Team and Flyspot Omega were still competing in the AA Class at the same event before they stepped up into AAA in October (Flyspot Omega) and November (MAD Team). The last meet for No Mercy at the Flyspot Polish Open 2019 was also the first meet for the all-female Flyspot One2Three lineup in the AAA Class. Now it's their turn to challenge Flyspot Sky4Four until No Mercy may come back...
