Did You Know...

... that Polish 4-way teams moved up into new NSL categories last month?

FAI Indoor World Cup 2016 at Flyspot: Sky4Four on home turf
posted Nov 10th, 2020 - Another 4-way competition took place, while the NSL News focused mainly on the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020. It was an indoor event in Poland, which was a part of the Flyspot Liga.

They Flyspot Liga events in Poland usually apply the same format as any other 4-way competition, where the teams meet at the same place at the same time. This year, the corona virus pandemic had the same impact on 4-way competition in Poland as in most other countries. Live events were canceled, including a Flyspot Liga event that was scheduled for a specific date earlier this year.

Flyspot Poland then decided to apply the same format for the event that the World Tunnel League has been using for several years, and that was also applied for the NSL Cloud Mondial. The teams were encouraged to perform the eight event sequences at the Flyspot windtunnels whenever they were able to do it, and they had a time-frame from October 16th to November 2nd to complete the competition rounds.

Eight Polish 4-way teams participated, and three teams from the Czech Republic crossed the border to be a part of the competition. The Hurricane Factory in Prague has been locked down, as the NSL News mentioned earlier, and the Czech 4-way teams are on a break until the reopening.

Indoor and outdoor national team: Flyspot Sky4Four
It was still an exciting event for Flyspot Omega under the circumstances. They attended their first competition in the AAA Class and completed their 4-way journey through the four NSL categories with the last step. They had started in the Rookie Class of 2016/2017 and attended five A Class meets in 2017/2018 before stepping up again into AA last year.

They battled with the Czech AA Class teams in January this year when they traveled to Prague for the Czech Open Indoor Championship. Then they were done with the AA Class dive pool and started preparing for training and competition with AAA Class sequences.

Flyspot Omega have been almost perfectly in step with the all-female lineup of Flyspot One2Three, who made the same step into AAA in November last year. The first duel in the new category was a 1-point battle, where Flyspot Omega had the slightest advantage. The national 4-way Open Class team FlySpot Sky4Four dominated the AAA Class competition as expected.

Final step into AAA: Flyspot Omega
Another Polish team was ready for the next and higher NSL category. Crazy Donut left the Rookie Class behind after winning the Flyspot Polish Open 2019 in November. The 1st place on the A Class leaderboard of the recent Flyspot Liga competition came with an impressive 18.8 average.

Rusalky in the same category was one of the three teams who visited the windtunnels in Poland from the Czech Republic. Rusalky continued in the A Class even though the team's lineup has been changing frequently.

The other two Czech teams competed in the Rookie Class, including the youngest and newest Smajilci lineup. Smajilci, whose team name translates into "Smileys", had competed for the first time in the Rookie Class of the Czech Open Indoor Championship. Rusalky and Smajilci are both "farm teams" for Jan Klapka's 4-way junior project at the Hurricane Factory that eventually produced the still reigning 4-way Junior world champions, the HF Cubs.
