Did You Know...

... that the NSL Cloud Mondial will continue in January?

David Grauwels' NSL Cloud Mondial evaluation at home in Belgium
posted Nov 9th, 2020 - The NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 is completed for now, even though the flexible regulations will allow more scores and videos to be added during the aftermath.

The teams who are already on the leaderboard will be able to add missing videos and get scores for the missing rounds. There is even the possibility that the Russian 8-way team from Tanay will add scores and videos to the 8-way leaderboard. In fact, the idea of the NSL Cloud Mondial was caused by the cancellation and rescheduling of the FAI Mondial 2020, and the Tanay home team, FAI Outdoor World Cup champion of 2019, would be welcome to put their own name on the same leaderboard with Airspeed XP8 and France.

There will be at least a few more 4-way scores and videos, as SDC Rhythm XP and CTR Optimum were literally still in action while Gary Smith, Joey Jones and David Grauwels evaluated the available videos of the event. It was almost a real live event for the two teams, who performed missing sequences in Sebastian, Florida, and in Brazil.

CTR Optimum have actually completed all rounds, including Round 11, and InTime will add the missing video, with scoring numbers and information, to the 4-way leaderboard. SDC Rhythm XP first have to wait out tropical storm Eta before completing the missing six rounds. Airbus and Out of the Blue are probably locked out of airports in Europe for the remainder of the year, and SDC RhEvolution XP may have a chance to add the missing round if they try again to visit Skydive Sebastian in the winter. They had planned to make the same trip last weekend.

SDC Rhythm XP's Round 2 over Skydive Perris
The NSL Cloud Mondial included a AA Class leaderboard, as well. TailSpin from North Carolina and High Voltage from Belgium used the opportunity to get an evaluation of their performances by highly experienced FAI judges and watch their competition rounds on the InTime screen.

The NSL News will soon take a closer look at all other leaderboards, as several additional teams used the NSL Cloud Mondial and all four different outdoor categories (AAA - AA - A - RRR) to compare their own score with others on the same leaderboard and using the same sequences. A total of 40 teams actually participated, nine teams in the AA Class, including TailSpin and High Voltage.

The NSL News mentioned earlier that Indoor Cloud League and World Tunnel League have been applying the format of synchronized monthly draws and joint leaderboards for several years, with the purpose of making logistics for competition as easy as possible.

The application of the same format for the NSL Cloud Mondial in the times of the corona virus pandemic and the worldwide restrictions and limitations was successful, and the National Skydiving League plans to continue with the same format, probably with a bimonthly frequency, until Formation Skydiving competition can go back to normal operation.

NSL Live Talk on November 6th - November 7th - November 8th: Gary Smith, Joey Jones, David Grauwels
SDC Rhythm XP's Round 9 over Skydive Sebastian
The next month of a new NSL Cloud Mondial would be January 2021, and the new year would be a great opportunity for a fresh start. The format will be applied for indoor and outdoor competition at the same time, as the World Tunnel League will resume activities as soon as windtunnels are back in event operation.

Gary Smith, Joey Jones and David Grauwels will be back for more NSL Live Talk as soon as SDC Rhythm XP have completed their set of eleven rounds. Especially South Florida is currently under heavy rain and wind, and it will probably take a few days until the weather conditions will allow outdoor activities.

The final evaluation of the NSL Cloud Mondial will then become a preview of the International 4-Way FS Skydiving Championships in Eloy later this month.

SDC Rhythm XP has completed only five of the eleven NSL Cloud Mondial rounds so far, however, it is obvious that the duel between the reigning USPA 4-way Open Class champion and Arizona Airspeed will once again offer exciting 4-way competition. Airspeed won the first three rounds by two points and added one point to the lead in Round 9. The NSL News will cover the next Rhythm/Airspeed duel live from Eloy. The event is open for all teams.
