Did You Know...

... that HF Flying Circus and Jan Klapka explained the situation in the Czech Republic?

Building a new classroom in Most: Jakub Klapka
posted May 3rd, 2020 - April 30th was a very interesting day for the NSL News. Echochamber members Mattias Nord and Ulf Liljenbäck first provided an update from Sweden. Later the same day the NSL News connected with the complete lineup of the HF Flying Circus in the Czech Republic.

Jan Klapka, Formation Skydiving competition's godfather in the Czech Republic, joined the conversation once in a while too. He and his son Jakub, who is in the tail slot for HF Flying Circus, are spending their time in Most, where Jan Klapka is running his Formation Skydiving school.

They are using the time of the corona virus crisis to build a new classroom at their facilities. Dropzones in the Czech Republic are closed, and Jan Klapka is hoping to restart the skydiving operation again on May 16th. The NSL News visited Jan Klapka's skydiving school in Most last year after the FAI Indoor World Meet at Weembi Lille and published an update from Prague and Most on 27 April 2019.

His skydiving school in Most is the place where the HF Cubs, still the reigning indoor world champions in 4-way Junior, will be getting ready for their next step into the skydiving world. Jan Klapka said that he already has the gear for the team. Sabina Cioleková and Viktorie Nováková have made their first jumps from air planes. Their team mates Karolina Henkova and Adela Vesela will follow later this year.

Jan Klapka said that the Czech 4-way juniors are even more on a hold than other indoor fliers and skydivers. Their parents were concerned early when the corona virus crisis began.

Several 4-way juniors, including the HF Cubs, skipped the last events before the break before the restrictions were officially announced and enforced by the Czech government.

However, Hanka Uriková, HF Chicks member and manager of the Hurricane Factory, has a plan how to start the reopening. It will be a combination of rotations between 4-way teams and freefliers that will begin the comeback of the windtunnel in Prague at the end of May. The Hurricane Factory will remain closed for the general public.

The updates from Sweden and Czech Republic on the same day also brought together two European countries with opposite approaches to the corona virus crisis. The Czech Republic reacted very quickly and harshly with tight restrictions, while Sweden was first carefully observing the situation for a while.

The Czech Republic has been on the bottom of the infection and death rates all the time, and Sweden's rates are currently decreasing, as well.

Echochamber and HF Flying Circus both have team members who are directly involved with the implications of the corona virus crisis.

Ulf Liljenbäck works as a sign language interpreter and goes live on TV with the Swedish government authorities for daily press conferences about Covid-19. Lukas Kaderabek is a medical doctor and works in a hospital in Prague that serves patients who have been infected with the COVID-19 virus.

The HF Flying Circus members said that not much has actually changed in their daily lives, as they continue with their usual work. Only the indoor and outdoor training and competition activities are missing. It is also interesting that outdoor training will be possible before windtunnel operation will resume. Martina Vavackova, who is assisting Jan Klapka with the 4-way junior project, explained that the air circulation at indoor events is one of the major obstacles.

Jan Klapka is planning to extend the indoor winter season by a month once the Hurricane Factory reopens. His teams missed the April meet, which is usually the last one before his outdoor meet season begins. HF Flying Circus is an indoor and outdoor team, and the HF Cubs are getting ready to join the 4-way fun in both elements - as soon as things go back to normal operation in the Czech Republic...
