Did You Know...

... that the Hurricane Factory has won the Indoor Cloud League six consecutive years?

Two Rookie Class Highscores: iFLY Seattle
posted Jan 14th, 2020 - The 2019 season of the Indoor Cloud League is over, too. It was a new record year with three new wind tunnel teams, even though only two of them were still on the leaderboards at the end of the year.

The results of the December competition could not change the total outcome for the past year any longer, however, it turned out to become a highly contested month anyway, as teams tied the highscores in three different categories (AAA - AA - RR).

Hurricane Factory and Paraclete XP matched their highscores for both of the two Open Class sequences (AAA - AA). The new Skydive Midwest NEXT lineup tied the 22-pointer that the HF Cubs posted for the AAA Class sequence at the Hurricane Factory, and also the 21-pointer for the AA Class sequence by the HF Chicks.

The most contested category was the RR Class where ten different teams posted scores and videos. Casey Chen and Chenglong Wang, with player-coaches Dave Correia and Djordje Mandaric, completed 30 points within working time for iFLY Seattle, and iFLY Denver's RR Class scores was capped at 25 points, as well. The third 25-pointer was scored by Keith Buell, Kat Osipova, Leslie Noble and player-coach Dee Caminiti for ICL Capital Region. The RR Class lineups of iFLY Seattle and Capital Region posted their scores in 14-foot flying chambers, while iFLY Denver's 25-pointer was performed in a 12-foot chamber.

Chasing the HF Flying Rebels: HF Dragonflies
The HF Dragonflies posted the highscore for the A Class sequence at the Hurricane Factory last month. The two best 4-way Junior teams, HF Flying Rebels and HF Dragonflies, have been taking turns in submitting the Czech highscores in this category. Both teams lost their eligibility for Rookie Class sequences after the March competition of the Indoor Cloud League.

A Class and AA Class sequences both can be drawn at FAI/IPC events, and both teams have been performing them month by month throughout the whole ICL 2019 season, missing only the July competition. HF Flying Rebels won the internal 2019 competition in the A Class by eight points (226 – 218) while it was only a 1-point difference to the advantage of the Flying Rebels in the AA Class (177 - 176).

HF Flying Rebels are officially the Czech national team in 4-way Junior, and the all-female HF Dragonflies lineup keep putting pressure on the mixed lineup of the Flying Rebels. Jan Klapka is planning to send both teams to the FAI Indoor World Cup in April, where each country can register up to four teams. The teams in the 12-foot flying chambers perform different sequences, and iFLY Orlando's 22-pointer for the other A Class sequence included the fast Block 9.

Paraclete XP also claimed the sole highscore for the RRR sequence with the 20-pointer. The lineup included 8-way expert Jack Ronalter, who will soon bring his whole 4-way family to the upcoming annual indoor competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire.

Family Jam consists of Jack Ronalter and his wife Veera, plus 12- and 14-year young Miina and Viivi Ronalter. The two Ronalter 4-way juniors will also team up with Sofia and Marcus Cunha for a complete 4-way Junior lineup in the Rookie Class.

HF Chameleons (RRR) and the Invisible Czech 4-way juniors finished shortly behind the top numbers in the three Rookie Class categories. IFLY Seattle's RR Class lineup also posted the 25-pointer highscore in the R Class.

The Hurricane Factory has now been on the top of the annual Indoor Cloud League leaderboards at the end of each year since 2014. Jan Klapka posted his first scores in June 2013 and took over the following year, after a 12-month battle with iFLY Orlando (1557 - 1554). Paraclete XP came even closer in 2018 (1461 - 1459). The new 2020 leaderboard is open for the first scores...
