Did You Know...

... that Lite XP/Spaceland Lite celebrate their 10-year team anniversary in 2019?

First Spaceland SPX Lite lineup in 2009
posted Mar 6th, 2019 - Lite XP, formerly known as Spaceland Lite, or Spaceland SPX Lite, is one of the longest standing 4-way teams in the United States. In fact, the 2019 season brings the 10-year anniversary for Lite, who appeared for the first time on the NSL leaderboard in May 2009.

The lineup has changed over the years, and Katrina Autry Shows is the only original member in the current lineup. She and her husband Devon Shows launched the team project, together with Richard Rothery and Bill Green. Devon Shows trained and competed with Lite until the end of the 2016 season, and Andre Van Heerden took his slot beginning in 2017.

Christy West joined Richard Rothery, Katrina and Devon Shows in 2010, together with team videographer Cory Kossan, who has been filming the team ever since. Richard Rothery had to step back after two years, and Joseph Wood took his slot in 2012 and for the next three years.

Dave Grabowski was the next new Lite member in 2015, and in the 6th year for Christy West, Katrina and Devon Shows. Christy West left in 2016, and Dave Grabowski's former Ranch Fallout team mate Kim Hollander replaced her. The current lineup came together when Devon Shows stepped back and is now in its third year.

USPA Advanced Class gold medals in 2011
It's not only the 10-year anniversary that is catching the attention of the NSL News. The scoring progression, especially since 2015, has been impressive and seems to continue. Lite XP had finished with another new outdoor team record average at the USPA Nationals 2018, after adding an average point year by year since 2016.

The situation is similar with the indoor performance, where Lite XP finished with a new team record for a 10-round meet with the complete FAI dive pool at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship.

The NSL News mentioned earlier that outside center Katrina Autry Shows had a very busy meet with her three teams, Lite XP and XPG4 in 4-way and Spaceland Lite in 8-way. She was rewarded for the efforts with a trip of the U.S. delegation to the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, after winning the 4-way Women qualification with XPG4.

Lite XP members Katrina Autry Shows and Dave Grabowski then joined Spaceland Lite's 8-way team, where they re-united with former Lite 4-way members Christy West and Devon Shows and the complete Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies lineup. Kim Hollander and Andre Van Heerden competed only with Lite XP in 4-way.

Lite XP at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019
On the way to the current performance level in the 4-way AAA Class, Lite XP collected two sets of USPA medals. Christy West, Richard Rothery, Katrina and Devon Shows, with Cory Kossan on camera, won Advanced Class bronze medals in 2010 and followed up with gold a year later.

The new lineup, with Joseph Wood for Richard Rothery had to move up into USPA's Open Class competition in 2012, even though the Advanced Class medalists finished with significantly higher meet averages.

However, the placement near the bottom of the Open Class leaderboard did not discourage Lite, and the same lineup placed slightly higher a year later. The situation did not change at the USPA Nationals 2014 and 2015, where the Advanced Class medal winners scored higher than the 2011 champions, who competed in the Open Class, together with Dallas 350 in a similar situation.

Former Advanced Class champion Mass Defiance was a different example though, who had worked their way up the Open Class leaderboard year by year. Lite XP eventually moved away from the bottom of the Open Class leaderboards in 2016 and 2017 and finished in 6th place last year, right behind two other former Advanced Class champions, Mass Defiance and Ranch 2nd Generation.

Happy 10-year anniversary, Lite XP...
