Did You Know...

... that the Rookie Class competition in Roosendaal featured another bronze medal battle?

Rookie Class awards at the ISR Grand Prix 2018
posted Dec 5th, 2018 - Earlier NSL News updates after the ISR Grand Prix 2018 have pointed out that the main battles of the event were fought out for the bronze medals positions. ISR FireFlash (AAA), HF Cubs (AA) and MAD Team (A) were far ahead of the field, and even all three silver medalists (HF eX3MO - Ketchup ADV - Phoenix) were safe in their 2nd places.

However, all three previously covered categories had exciting battles for the 3rd place, and even more than only two teams were in contention on the AA and A Class leaderboards.

It was not different in the Rookie Class competition where the Dutch Funky Falcons won 30 points ahead of Oljakoda from Belgium in 2nd place. Then there was the same gap (20 points) between Oljakoda and three teams who battled for the bronze medals.

Funky Falcons and Oljakoda knew each other from an earlier meet this year. Both teams competed at the Belgian Outdoor Nationals 2018 and had a scoring history, while all other teams in Roosendaal were new. The earlier efforts of the two teams on the top of the leaderboard and the results of the training were rewarded with the indoor success at the ISR Grand Prix.

The winner in Roosendaal, Funky Falcon, was a visiting team from the Netherlands at the Belgian outdoor nationals in September.

This time, Oljakoda crossed the border from Belgium to the Netherlands to meet Funky Falcons at an indoor competition, and the Dutch team maintained the upper hand in the wind tunnel environment, as well.

The battle for the Rookie Class bronze medals had three teams in contention, two from the Netherlands (Hawaii 4-0 - NTBD), and High Voltage from Belgium. It was a roller-coaster competition for the 3rd place, as each of the three teams claimed or tied three highscores of the eight rounds.

The second Belgian team in the Rookie Class eventually took the bronze medals four points ahead of NTBD.

The 35-second working time for teams in the A and Rookie Class at the ISR Grand Prix begins with the break of the Star at the beginning of each competition round.
