Did You Know...

... that British 4-way teams concluded the 2018 indoor season at the Bodyflight Revenge?

Cloudbusters at a UKSL 2018 meet
posted Nov 15th, 2018 - Twinwoods Adventure in Bedford, host of the annual World Challenge, added the Bodyflight Revenge to the indoor events first time in 2014. The World Challenge has been the unofficial indoor world championship event ever since former owner Paul Mayer launched it in 2006, while the Bodyflight Revenge is mostly attended by British 4-way teams, who conclude their competition season with this event.

This year's Revenge still took place after the change of ownership at Twinwoods Adventure, and the World Challenge will also be held again in 2019. NFTO and Satori XL were in Australia for the FAI World Meet during this year's Revenge, and five British 4-way teams had the FAI Indoor World Cup with the trip to Bahrain on the agenda, which was scheduled for the week shortly after the Revenge.

The AAA Class leaderboard of the Revenge reflects the tight schedule, as none of the three teams had a scoring history going into the meet.

The AA Class leaderboard offered a much more familiar situation with teams who have been competing earlier this year. Cloudbusters finished in the most impressive way at the team's first competition in the AA Class.

A Class awards at the Revenge 2018
Teams have used the Bodyflight Revenge in the past to either finish off the competition season or step up into the next competition class after the national outdoor championships. Cloudbusters competed in the A Class at three of the United Kingdom Skydiving League meets this year and won the A Class gold medals at the UK Nationals with an 11.7 team record average.

The winner of the A Class in Great Britain would have to step up into the AA Class next year, and Cloudbusters had every reason to use the Bodyflight Revenge as the first test for the new eight blocks. There was serious opposition by Draconis, who had spent the whole 2018 season in the AA Class and eventually ended up in 2nd place, after an extra round to break the tie with Scratch Fource 1, a team for the meet with two former members of Vantage.

Cloudbusters had a different lineup for the team's first and last AA Class meet though. Half of the team comprised of Pajama Pumas members, even though Matt Cumming was the original Cloudbusters coach and was alternate for the team once at a UKSL meet this year. Cloudbusters will not come back next year, as all team members continue with new and separate projects.

"Geek of the Meet" award for Nebula
Mandelo was also a team for the meet, with former British AA (Derek Cornelius) and A Class (Laura Jones, Scott Brettle) medal winners, plus Rubix member Jake John.

A Class winner Nebula was one of the busiest competition teams of the 2018 season and were finally rewarded with the 1st place at the Bodyflight Revenge. They had launched the 2018 season and the team career at the World Challenge 2018 in Bedford and finished it off at the same place.

Nebula attended all three UKSL meets, finished 4th at the UK Nationals and competed for the UK delegation at the ESL Championship in Saarlouis.

Nebula fielded the original lineup at the Revenge, which will be the last meet, as Ed Hill is leaving the team to go traveling. Nebula are now on the lookout for a new team member in the point slot to move up into the AA Class competition of 2019.

Clantastic 4 is a family team on the A Class leaderboard, made up of half of Draconis, plus Sandy Spence’s wife, his daughter Sian and his granddaughter as the team mascot. Draconis will be moving up into the AAA Class next year, Clantastic 4 into the AA Class. The annual Revenge is the only opportunity for the family team to compete together.

Both Twinwoods Adventure Skydive Recruits 4-way Junior teams, Recruitz Fire and Ice, were also back on the Rookie and A Class leaderboards at the end of their second year of 4-way competition.
