Did You Know...

... that odds and previous numbers speak for NMP PCH HayaBusa in Round 6?

NMP PCH HayaBusa lineup in Menzelinsk 2010
posted Oct 8th, 2018 - Once again it is a beautiful morning at Gold Coast in Australia, and it seems like nothing can keep the teams today from getting to the Super Sequence in Round 6. The weather situation did not allow any rounds in 4-way Open or 4-way Women after yesterday's 8-way and VFS competition jumps, and the Super Sequence will be today's highlight.

Most of the interesting conversations related to Round 6 were based on the standing world record of 56 points from Menzelinsk 2010 and whether or not it might be broken with the new Super Sequence. The NSL News has interviewed the five standing world record owners who are completely aware of the situation.

There is not much doubt that the new Super Sequence will generate a new record number, with a few exceptions of experts who are not totally convinced that it will be a guaranteed world record.

However, it is a fact that there are four teams who have the potential to post a new record number (NMP PCH HayaBusa - Arizona Airspeed - Aerodyne Realfly - Aerodyne Weembi Girls), and only one of them need a clean and fast round to wipe out the 56-pointer of 2010.

One of the main questions is who will do it, and it seems like NMP PCH HayaBusa has once again the best starting position for the Super Sequence.

The NSL News has so far mentioned only the two teams who posted the 56-pointer in Menzelinsk 2010, the French and Russian national teams in 4-way Open. There was a third team that missed the standing world record only by one single point with a 55-pointer.

It was the 2010 lineup of NMP PCH HayaBusa, with brothers David and Andy Grauwels in the lineup, by then together with Roy Janssen, Waedong So and Danny Jacobs on camera. David and Andy Grauwels are the only competitors at the FAI World Meet 2018 who were so close to the standing world record of 2010 and are now in one of the four teams who can beat it today.

They bring in the 55-pointer experiences of 2010 and had eight years to get to an even higher performance level. HayaBusa did not win a medal in Menzelinsk 2010, even though the Belgians liked the fast sequences already by then.

There are also two other competitors who finished only three points behind the 56-pointer world record in Round 2 and are back at the world meet in Gold Coast this week. Airbus 4-way members Markus Bastuck and Jorn Thiele posted a German national record with the 53-pointer in Menzelinsk 2010. Current Airbus 8-way member Max Thiele was in the same 2010 lineup, as well.

Pressure is on: Belgian fans downtown Gold Coast...
The current Airbus 4-way lineup, with Thomas Mack, Goran Meyer and Andreas Troegele on camera, will be eager to get to the 2010 scoring level in Round 6.

The current HayaBusa lineup has a 39-pointer (L,M,K,7) as the highest score for a single round in the records, posted in Round 8 of the FAI Mondial 2016, which is also the highest score for the current French Open Class lineup, Aerodyne Realfly.

The highest score for the current Airspeed lineup is the 35-pointer in Round 1 (F,M,C,10) of the Paraclete XP Summer Classic 2018. The Aerodyne Weembi Girls have a 34-pointer in the books as the highest team score, also posted at the FAI Mondial 2016. None of the four top candidates for a new world record has seen a Super Sequence in competition yet with the complete current lineup.

However, the odds based on the previous numbers are once again speaking for the reigning 4-way world champions in Round 6. The pressure is on...
