Did You Know...

... that the February leaderboard of the World Tunnel League was a AA Class scramble?

FSL Tunnel Kicker in Orlando
posted Feb 18th, 2018 - The Orlando Indoor Cloud League team of the Florida Skydiving League started into the February competition the opposite way compared to January, when the score for one of the Rookie Class sequences (R) was missing.

This time, there was no lineup that was ready to take on the AAA Class sequence with a slot switcher for the front piece (D,9,K,16) and the Orlando team has the remainder of the month to follow up with a scoring number for this category.

Champaka Nagaraju was back after more than a 1-year break and attended her first FSL Tunnel Kicker at the new iFLY facilities, together with her husband Kanishka Perera in the Rookie Class lineup.

She had flown only in Orlando's old 12-foot chamber a few times in 2016 and is back in 4-way action.

The 13-pointer for the R Class sequence was a good start into the comeback and was on the same pace level with the second Rookie Class lineup that scored for the RR and RRR Class sequences.

A week later, a different group of FSL indoor and outdoor competitors met in Tampa to perform the ten February sequences of the World Tunnel League.

They joined the other teams from the Czech Republic and Northern California on the leaderboard who had completed their February meets earlier this month.

The Czech teams were alone on the AAA Class leaderboard, where HF Bad Boys and HF Chicks battled once again for the top spot.

HF Flying Circus was not a part of the top competition this time, after the first AAA Class victory in December and upsetting the Bad Boys again in January.

The HF Chicks won in January, after a 1-point loss to Flying Circus in December, and finished only one single point behind Bad Boys this month.

HF Chicks and Bad Boys both needed more help in February. HF Cubs junior Karolina Henkova filled an open slot for the HF Chicks, and Flying Circus member Martina Vavackova had the same double duties for her team and the Bad Boys as in January.

HF Junior Cubs lineup
The teams in Northern California completed only the first six rounds in their 12-foot flying chamber, which changed the numbers on the AA and Rookie Class leaderboards.

The two Rookie Class teams were so far away from each other that nothing changed in the rankings, while the different number of rounds had a significant impact on the AA Class leaderboard, at least behind the two top teams. The HF Cubs won the category easily after six and after ten rounds, which was the same for NCSL team 2Pairs behind the Czech 4-way juniors.

An exciting battle took place behind the two top spots, where four teams finished within five points after Round 6. The 10-round order was completely scrambled when Team JAKE's 0-pointer in Round 7, due to a video recording failure, was neutralized after the adjustments of the leaderboard for a 6-round ranking.

The other two Czech teams moved up the leaderboard, as well, since the earlier rounds had faster sequences. Mimozemky had a 1-point lead over the M Team after Round 6, and the M Team caught up with their Czech opponent in the last round on the Czech 10-round leaderboard.
