Did You Know...

... that Amnesya won the Belgian Indoor Nationals with a Belgian team member?

Fly-In Amnesya with player coach David Grauwels
posted Dec 22nd, 2017 - The Belgian Indoor Nationals 2017 took place without the Belgian indoor and outdoor world champions, NMP PCH HayaBusa, who are enjoying their much deserved winter break.

There was one exception though, as the team's inside center David Grauwels was filling an open slot slot for the Italian team Amnesya.

It's the second HayaBusa member who has been helping the Italians. Tail Jeroen "Bob" Nollet was in the tail slot at the ISR Grand Prix 2017 where team member Antonio Delogu was missing.

Amnesya coach David Grauwels took the same tail slot, which is his B-slot in the HayaBusa rear piece with Jeroen Nollet. He was also competing in 8-way with FlyIn8.

Amnesya's outside center Michele Silvi was not available at the Belgian Indoor Nationals, and the Italian team competed with only two original members, Chiara Brunetti (Point) and Giuseppe Cossu (Inside Center). Mario Fatturoso stepped in and took the outside center slot for the Fly-In meet.

Mario Fatturoso with eX3MO at the FAI Mondial 2012 in Dubai
Mario Fatturoso is in fact the new Amnesya member who will replace Antonio Delogu in the tail slot next year. He is a former eX3MO competitor who was in the lineup that posted the team's highest outdoor average (19.9) at the FAI Mondial 2012 in Dubai, together with Pete Allum, Fabio Lorenzetti, Ivan Quadrio and Massimo Fiorini on camera.

He left eX3MO at the end of the 2013 season and is now joining Amnesya. The new lineup will begin with training in January.

The German national team Airbus finished in 2nd place behind Amnesya. It was the first indoor competition for Airbus, and the lineup is the same that trained and competed in 2017 and will represent Germany at the FAI World Meet 2018 in Australia.

The Italian opponent at the world meet will probably be eX3MO who won the national outdoor championships this year by one single point.

ISR FireFlash ended up in 3rd place after recently outscoring Amnesya with Jeroen Nollet at the ISR Grand Prix. FireFlash competed with a different lineup, as outside center Wesley Claessens was not available.

Luc Verstrepen helped out, and FireFlash had to scramble the center slots. Sven Ibens and Luc Verstrepen are both former HayaBusa members, and they both trained and competed in the inside center position for the Belgian national team.

Sven Ibens had left HayaBusa at the end of the 2006 season, and Luc Verstrepen was his successor when HayaBusa became a full-time team in 2007. Sven Ibens switched to outside center to accommodate the only slot that Luc Verstrepen was prepared for.

FireFlash's Fly-In lineup completed 30 minutes of indoor training the night before the competition and then followed up with the ten meet rounds in 4-way. Amnesya and FireFlash also joined forces for the 8-way competition.

The rear piece of the Fly-In Machine 44 lineup was almost complete with David Grauwels, Glenn Cuylaerts and Sven Ibens. Amnesya member Chiara Brunetti took Jeroen Nollet's slot. Maya Van Campenhout was the only M44 front piece member.

Giuseppe Cossu (Amnesya) and Elischa Weber from Germany joined her on the other side of the 8-way formations, and Luc Verstrepen completed the lineup in Andy Grauwels' slot. The international FlyIn8 lineup did not have serious competition in 8-way and won easily.
