NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that the 2017 outdoor competition season has begun in the United Kingdom?

Chimera with coach Katie Woods at the World Challenge 2017
posted May 15th, 2017 - The 2017 outdoor season in the United Kingdom began on the first May weekend with the United Kingdom Skydiving League (UKSL) competition at Skydive Buzz in Dunkeswell.

The British 4-way teams had their first opportunity to measure up with each other at the World Challenge 2017 where a total of 18 teams completed the ten indoor rounds. UK's indoor national team in 4-way Open, Volition, finished in the top spot of the internal British leaderboard, followed by Chimera, who posted a new team record average in Bedford.

Chimera's performance at the World Challenge shows that the young team will have a serious word this year at the national outdoor championships. Chimera had finished with a 16.1 average in 6th place last year. The 24.1 average in Bedford indicates that the outdoor average will be significantly higher at this year's nationals.

However, none of the AAA Class teams in Bedford attended the first outdoor competition of the year, and new AAA Class team Manatee had no competition in this category.

Pajama Pumas at the ESL Championship 2016
Vantage was the only British AA Class team that had also posted scores at the World Challenge and followed up with the first outdoor scores at the beginning of May. Vantage is a new British team and offered the Pajama Pumas serious competition throughout the 6-round meet.

Pajama Pumas competed in the British Rookie Class of 2016 and started the team career with the first scoring point in the last round of the UKSL May meet.

They attended all three UKSL meets last year (0.2 - 1.0 - 4.3) and then posted a 6.0 average for the 8th place at the national championships.

Pajama Pumas visited the A Class leaderboard only once at the ESL Championship in October and won ten ESL points with the 1st place in Germany. The British delegation ended up two ESL points behind Germany in 2nd place (34 - 32).

Poor 4cast at the World Challenge 2017
Pajama Pumas have not attended an indoor competition yet and came back in the AA Class a year after the first point in the Rookie Class. The 9.3 average at the UKSL May meet won the 1st place in the AA Class by four points.

Dive Hard 4.0 in 3rd place was also new to the AA Class competition, after a year in the A Class. Dive Hard started at the World Challenge 2016 and then attended all three UKSL 2016 meets before winning the bronze medals at the UK Nationals 2016. The three highscores at the first UKSL meet are showing that Dive Hard will also be competitive in UK's AA Class competition this year.

The second team that had also posted scores at the World Challenge 2017 was Poor 4cast who won the A Class competition in Dunkeswell. Poor 4cast competed in the Rookie Class last year and took on the A Class dive pool at the World Challenge for the first time.

The first outdoor competition in the new category was successful with the 1st place and an 8.7 average. Two new teams had a dinosaur fight for the 2nd place, including a jump-off round...
