... that SDC ZEUS has new plans for the 2017 season?

James Hopkins and Amer Kassas at an ICL event in October 2013
posted Dec 22nd, 2016 - SDC ZEUS was one of the two teams who attended both events of the NSL Championship 2016, the 10-round indoor part on Friday evening at iFLY Orlando, and the 6-round outdoor competition at Skydive DeLand on Saturday.

It was the sixth 4-way competition for the team from Skydive City this year. ZEUS still did not have enough for the year, even after traveling to Arizona for the USPA Nationals 2016.

The ZEUS 4-way project was launched by Amer Kassas in 2013 after he visited iFLY Orlando's Indoor Cloud League events (FSL Tunnel Kicker) a few times and became addicted to 4-way training and competition. Bob Byrne was the player coach at the first competition of the Florida Skydiving League, and James Hopkins and Ryan Taylor completed the lineup. Mark Messersmith joined the team in 2015 and has continued with Amer Kassas until today.

The lineup changed again at the end of the 2016 season, when ZEUS made plans to include the USPA Nationals in the team's schedule. Bill Bickner (Outside Center) joined Amer Kassas (Inside Center) and Mark Messersmith (Point) while Bob Byrne continued as the player coach.

Bob Byrne was not available as a team member for the USPA Nationals, where he competed with his own team, SDC FurtheranZe XP, and ZEUS hired Robert Chromy as the player coach for the team's first attendance at the national championships.

ZEUS had to step up from the A Class season in 2015 to the AA Class dive pool, which is identical with USPA's Intermediate Class. ZEUS had started with a 4.7 average at the July meet of the Florida Skydiving League and finished with a 7.7 average at the USPA Nationals with Robert Chromy in the lineup.

SDC ZEUS with the NSL Shugar Cup
Skydive City had three teams at the USPA Nationals 2016, where Z-Hills PreciZion won the gold medals in the Intermediate Class. SDC ZEUS ended up right in the middle of the field and even managed to steal a few rounds from their former player coach Bob Byrne and his SDC FurtheranZe XP lineup.

The 7.7 average in Eloy was the team's highest result in team history, including the previous meet averages in the Rookie and A categories. ZEUS is highly motivated to continue and has made plans for the 2017 season with the same lineup as the one at the USPA Nationals.

ZEUS brought the NSL Shugar Cup to DeLand after winning the A Class competition in 2015. They took the trophy straight back to Skydive City, as it belongs to the winner of the highest category at the NSL Championship...
