Did You Know...

... that eight Indoor Cloud League lineups competed for iFLY Dallas in January?

posted Feb 1st, 2016 - The new year has also brought a few new teams to the Indoor Cloud League. The final leaderboard of January will most likely show a new record number of participating wind tunnels.

iFLY Virginia Beach's ICL team posted the first scores, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on January 23rd, and iFLY Houston followed up last week with scores and videos for January.

iFLY Houston is Spaceland Lite's indoor home turf, and team member Katrina Shows recruited the first lineup for the Indoor Cloud League competition. She had January Amber Taylor (Point), Diana Hu (Tail) and Debbie Hoffpauir (Inside Center) in her lineup and posted scores for the AA and A Class sequences.

Katrina Shows said that her team enjoyed very much being a part of the ICL competition and having scores on the January leaderboard. She said that there are more people in her area who are excited about joining next month.

She also hopes that iFLY Houston will support the new ICL team soon by installing a camera with a better angle for the judging view and that the new Indoor Cloud League competitors will do their share soon by using gloves with lighter colors.

It did not take too long until the Texas competition from iFLY Dallas then posted scores and videos of the January sequences. Amanda Lampton and her coaches (Scott Levy, Lucas King, Amy Haass, plus assistant coach Genifer Oliver) guided their group to the total of 120 points in eight lineups, and there was close internal competition.

In fact, two teams tied their scores in the RRR Class. Amanda Lampton's team (Lacey Porter, Rodrigo Falla, Debbie Swenson) actually completed 17 points within working time and suffered a point deduction. Lucas King's team (Caleb Rydbeck, Donaldo Grajeda, Shannon McCarthy) ended up on the leaderboard with their 16-pointer.

Dallas 350 member Scott Levy posted a 15-pointer in the A Class (Bill Schmitt, Scott Kucel, Alison Saul) which was matched by Amanda Lampton with a different lineup (Mary Ellen Weber, Jerry Elkind, Brett Bradley). This time, Amanda Lampton's team made the leaderboard.

Coaches Amy Haass and Lucas King had Rob Parker and John Victor in the R Class lineup for the 28-pointer, and Amanda Lampton was back again for the RR Class sequence (Genifer Oliver, Eliel Rodriguez, Shawn Henry) and the 21-pointer.

Still Nr. 1: Bad Boys
The four coaches (Amanda Lampton, Amy Haass, Scott Levy, Lucas King) performed the AAA and AA Class sequences and were only two points behind the Bad Boys in the AAA Class.

Amanda Lampton said that her ICL team had a "pretty strong start" into the new year, and she pointed out the impressive performance of the 2-on-2 teams: "All four of those guys are noticeably improving." She also had new participants with Mary Ellen Weber and Deguello member Jerry Elkind. She said that they enjoyed the event and are planning to participate regularly. She said that "many of the usual suspects fleshed out the rest of the teams" and that three of them (Donaldo Grajeda, Michael Erickson, Rodrigo Falla) are now considering training and going to the USPA Nationals.

The total of 120 points is currently the 2nd place on the January leaderboard, where the Hurricane Factory started the new year once again in the top spot...
