posted Jul 23rd, 2015 - The Clash of Champions at Inflight Dubai in November this year applies many competition categories. In addition to 4-way AAA - AA - A and 8-way in Formation Skydiving, there is also Dynamic 2-way and 4-way, a Best Trick competition and a Surprise event.

Only the 4-way AAA Class competition and both Dynamic events (4-way and 2-way) apply the same new FAI/IPC indoor rules and regulations, which will also be used at the 1st FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships 2015 in October at the Hurricane Factory in Prague.

The Paraclete XP Indoor Championship has been including AA Class teams, 8-way competition and Best Trick in the past, and the World Challenge also invites the A Class teams every year to Bodyflight Bedford.

Only the FAI/IPC events, including the new indoor world cups and world meets, and the World Challenge apply a separate 4-way Women category. Even the FAI/IPC sanctioned national championships in the membership countries, such as the USPA and the UK Nationals, don't have a separate 4-way Women category, and the all-female teams are ranked on the Open Class leaderboards, with one exception in Germany.

The best all-female AAA Class teams then usually qualify as the countries’ national teams in 4-way Women for any international FAI/IPC events.

Formation Skydiving Coordinator and Chief Judge at the Clash of Champions Pete Allum and Meet Director Iain Scott Macdonald decided to separate the 4-way Formation Skydiving teams only by skills and experience levels at Inflight Dubai in November. Pete Allum said that there are enough categories to make it a fair game, and the all-female teams are used to find themselves ranked on the AAA/AA/A Class leaderboards.

The total jackpot of $193,000 at the Clash of Champions will be shared between teams and competitors in eight different categories, and the three competition classes in 4-way Formation Skydiving (AAA - AA - A) will include competitors of both genders and all age groups.

Before the indoor competition in Dubai, national 4-way teams and competitors have the opportunity to win FAI/IPC medals in 4-way Open, 4-way Women and 4-way Junior in Prague, all in the AAA/Open Class. Dynamic 2-way and 4-way competitors are only separated by age (Open/Junior) and not by gender.

After competing in the AAA Class at the Clash of Champions, the FAI/IPC invited 4-way national teams will then again be separated by gender, as the World Air Games have a 4-way Women and 4-way Open Class competition with separate leaderboards.

The Dubai International Parachuting Championship has applied a 4-way Women category in the past, as the event is sanctioned by FAI/IPC. The Clash of Champions does not have any restrictions due to the same or similar sanctioning obligations.

The prize money at the Clash of Champions will be in reach for male and female 4-way competitors equally, as it seems. Golden Knights and French Girls might both be within striking distance of the money positions. Laurence Herve (French Open Class national team), Christy Frikken and JaNette Lefkowitz (SDC Rhythm XP) could also win some of the cash with their teams if they attend the event.

The British Chatterchicks won the AA Class competition at the World Challenge 2015, and the Flyspot Chicks from Poland finished in 1st place of the A Class competition. They would not need their own category to win top money at Inflight Dubai...
