Did You Know...

... that the 21st annual Tomscat Trophy was complete after nine AAA and eight A Class rounds?

Rookie Class winner Heartbeat Skydiving Team with the ISR Stimulation Prize
posted Jun 21st, 2015 - The Tomscat Trophy, which commemorates two members of the Dutch 4-way team Tomscat, Remie Herder and Sjaak Strating, who lost their lives in a jump plane crash in 1992, went once again to Thunder ISR. Thunder has won the annual event every year since their first entry in 2011.

Thunder's Outside Center Paul Hofstee added the 21st Tomscat gold medal to his own collection since the inauguration of the event in 1995.

This year's "ISR Stimulation Prize", 30 minutes of free flying time at Indoor Skydive Roosendaal, was once again awarded to the team that "makes the most out of a small budget and stands out with enthusiasm and commitment in an effort to become better". Rookie Class winner Heartbeat Skydiving Team (Onno Kammeraad, Arjan Ouwerkerk, Klaas van der Veeken, Rick van Hoof, with Riko van de Weerd on camera) can enjoy the free tunnel time this year.

AAA Class company for Thunder: Cool Runnings at the World Meet 2014
The A Class leaderboard shows that there was great competition in this category. Each of the seven A Class teams had the potential to post highscores for single rounds, and six of them did so. Blok 43 turned out to finish with the most consistent performance after a slow start and had a 5-point lead after Round 8.

Meet Director Mike Pennock had actually scheduled ten rounds for the event. He said that it started to rain, and the meet was over two rounds short of the plan. Only the two AAA Class teams were able to add another round before the weather conditions did not allow any more jumping.

Cool Runnings was back with the same lineup that competed for the Netherlands at the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014 and gave Thunder ISR company on the AAA Class leaderboard.

Thunder ISR with the Tomscat Trophy
Thunder finished the team's second meet with a 22+ average, this time without the support of a Super Sequence. The first 22+ average at the same event last year (22.9) included a very fast sequence (D,9,A,E) in Round 5. The missing Round 10 (5,20,9) of this weekend's competition would most likely not have lowered the meet average.

Thunder ISR is a member of the new "4-way Indoor Elite Club" on the 23-pointer level, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on June 19th. The entry to the "4-way Outdoor Elite Club" on the 20-pointer level was not far away at the Tomscat Trophy.

Thunder scored 20 points and higher for eight of the nine sequences, including a few challenging rounds, and Round 10 would not have been in the way under normal circumstances. The 18-pointer in Round 5 (14,1,A) was the obstacle this time. However, Thunder has never been so close and will be one of the next teams joining the "4-way Outdoor Elite Club"...
