Did You Know...

... that Voluntas is the new Danish A-Team throughout the 2010 season?

Voluntas at the Shamrock Showdown 2009
posted Mar 30th, 2009 - Finally, all teams that competed at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2009 have left Florida. Seven of them are getting ready for the next trip to Bedford and the World Challenge 2009.

The last team that was leaving DeLand after a few extra days of training after the meet was the Danish team Voluntas, which will also compete at Bodyflight Bedford at the end of this week. The NSL News used the opportunity of the extra time in DeLand for a live interview with the team in the NSL office at the end of last week.

Voluntas is Denmark's new national 4-way team and consists of Kasper Brandt-Svanekier, Brian Gregersen, Flemming Borup Andersen and Kenneth Gajda, with John Petersen on camera. The team has a 2-year plan until the World Meet 2010 in Russia and started the team career with the 14.8 average after the ten rounds at the Shamrock Showdown 2009.

Indoor training at Bodyflight Bedford
All Voluntas members have been part of the Danish national team project for several years, and bring a mixture of training, competition and coaching experience with them.

Kasper Brandt-Svanekier and Brian Gregersen were already members of the last Danish national 4-way team Blaze that competed last year at the World Meet 2008 in France and finished there with a 15.8 average after six rounds, tied with Lithuania in 12th place.

Flemming Borup Andersen was a member of the Danish B-Team Sequence in 2008 and was selected for the A-Team lineup of Voluntas this year. Kenneth Gajda was a project member in different lineups between 2002 and 2006 and now came back for a new 2-year project with Voluntas.

Danish scores at world meets and world cups
Solly Williams is the head coach for the Danish project and believes that he has the most promising lineup this year that he has seen ever since he has worked with teams from Denmark. He said that the selection of the new lineup brought together a very talented group on an even skills and performance level.

The 14.8 average at the very beginning of the team project this month in DeLand lifted Voluntas to the same level where the DaneZ began with their team project in 2003. The DaneZ ended up with an 18.0 average after four years at the World Meet 2006 in Germany.

The next Danish A-Team lineup, Blaze, began with a 14.3 average at the beginning of the 2007 season and finished with a 15.8 average at the World Meet 2008 in France after two years.

Voluntas aims for the same scoring and performance level that the DaneZ achieved after four years. However, the team wants to get there within the 2-year period until the World Meet 2010. Nothing seems to be in the way at the moment, according to coach Solly Williams.

Voluntas visit at the NSL office
The project begins with a busy 2009 season. The World Challenge 2009 is already the second competition on the Voluntas agenda. The indoor meet at Bodyflight Bedford has its special Danish feature, as both other project teams, Sequence and Altius, will also compete in Bedford this weekend. Voluntas will add some more tunnel time for training after the competition.

The Danish team will go back to DeLand in May for another outdoor training camp. There is also the May meet of the Florida Skydiving Leagues as an option for this camp. The DFU Open competition follows in May in Denmark and more outdoor training in the summer. Denmark's national championship is scheduled for July. Voluntas will go back to DeLand for a training camp in October and then travel to Texas for the USPA Nationals 2009.
