Thunder action at the ISR Grand Prix 2012
posted Nov 26th, 2012 - The complete competition draw has now been added to the leaderboard of the ISR Grand Prix 2012. It also gives a better impression of the value of Thunder's scores. There was only one "weak" round, as Center Outside Paul Hofstee explained. Thunder did not like their own Round 3, and the first video below begins with this one of three Thunder sequences.

However, Round 4 and 5 compensated for Round 3, and the second video features the Thunder highlight and 33-pointer highscore of the meet in Round 7.

Thunder had to deal with a health situation, as one of the team members was sick and decided in the very last minute to give it a try and a go. Alternate Petra van Overveld, former ISB Air Remscheid member, was on stand-by Saturday morning. Finally, the original lineup mastered all eight rounds with another great performance.

Bill Schmitz guarding the Fun Flag in Dubai
In the meantime, the Fun Flag had its next appearance in the runup to the Mondial 2012.

The NSL News reported on 19 November 2012 that Arizona Airspeed was in possession of the Fun Flag and provided evidence with a photo of the team in front of the SkyVenture Arizona windtunnel in Eloy.

Airspeed has completed the travel from Arizona to Dubai and is now warming up with training jumps at the competition site.

The Fun Flag made the trip too, as a new photo shows. It was taken in the hotel where many of the teams are staying, the Oasis Beach Tower, which is located very near the Palm Jumeira Island. Airspeed videographer Bill Schmitz was guarding the Fun Flag.

The teams and competitors in the hotels along the beach are in walking distance of the dropzone, which is located not even a mile away on the same beach. It has a new runway where the jump planes will take off for the competition. The hotels even offer a view of the island and the dropzone without ever leaving the luxurious facilities.

The landing areas are at the DZ for some of the events and on the actual island for others. Speed boats will bring back the teams and competitors after the landings, which proved to be the faster way of transportation than cars.

The NSL News will report live from Dubai with the next update. It is time now for a long trip from Florida to the Arabian Peninsula, also for an investigation of the Fun Flag situation. NMP-PCH Hayabusa had presented the Fun Flag on top of Dubai in January 2010. It's Airspeed's turn now to find a good place and let it fly.
