Did You Know...

... that the 4-way Open Class teams struggled with Round 8?

Airspeed Odyssey right after the judging of Round 8
posted Aug 14th, 2008 - It was actually quite amazing how difficult Round 8 turned out to be. Norway Arcteryx ended up with a 14-pointer, the team's lowest score of the meet.

France Maubeuge was the only team without serious problems and had the highscore of 18 points. It was hard to imagine that Airspeed Odyssey could still got in trouble. However, after two deductions the US team saved a 1-point victory over the finish line.

Airspeed is the new 4-way world champion, Craig Girard will collect his 7th gold medal and set a new record. Mark Kirkby wins a 4-way gold medal for the 4th time. Eliana Rodriguez is the first female competitor with gold in all three events. Andy Delk and Steve Novak get their first gold medals at a World Championship. Congratulations, a live interview with Airspeed shortly after the last judging will follow soon.

Interview with Hayabusa Defence after Round 8
The work was long from being done for the NSL News after all jumps were judged. After the Airspeed interview the Hayabusa Defence members visited the NSL News, as well. Hayabusa won the first set of medals for Belgium at a World Championship of Formation Skydiving.

It was once again a very entertaining interview, and it gave insights of the future for Hayabusa Defence.

Nathan Polis next had his camera set up at the French headquarters where the whole French 8-way team was ready for an NSL News interview shortly after the 8-way competition was concluded with the scores for Round 7.

Last not least, Bodyflight Storm allowed the NSL-TV camera to film parts of their celebrations at the dropzone bar and ask a few questions. The videos of these interviews are in the process of editing and compressing and will be uploaded as soon as possible.

Then the Chair of the IPC Committee Formation Skydiving, Fiona McEachern, invited judges, teams and competitors to discuss the near future of the sport and the rules.

The meeting covered several smaller items before two major topics kept the audience busy for a while: freeze frame images and slow-speed judging. The event duration also found the attention of the committee members and the audience. The NSL News will soon follow up with more details.

The weather is beautiful now, and the conditions will be perfect for the big show on the airfield with thousands of spectators. The award ceremony will be a part of the celebrations. The NSL News takes a break for a few hours.
