News Article Did you know that Mass Defiance continued for three years in the Open Class after winning in Advanced?
posted: Jul 4th, 2021 The approach in the transition from USPA's Advanced Class competition to 4-way Open happened when Mass Defiance set a new example in 2005. With the series of earlier Advanced Class stories, the NSL News has pointed out that most of the Advanced Class winners did not step up into the 4-way Open Class. Mass Defiance registered twice for the Advanced Class competition with the original lineup (Ben Liston, Jim Rees, John Silva, Brian Stephens, Richard Smith and Steve "Scuba" Feldman on camera). They witnessed the Elsinore medal sweep in 2004 and missed their own bronze medal by one single point. The... (more)
News Article Did you know that there have been several world-class moves from the outside to the inside center slot?
posted: Mar 5th, 2021 It was to be expected that the online audience of the live streaming from the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 would include highly interested competitors from Belgium. It was afternoon in Europe when the teams entered the flying chamber in North Carolina, and the competition day was over roughly at midnight for the audience overseas. One of the NMP PCH HayaBusa members, new inside center Michele Silvi, followed the live streaming action as much as possible, while his team mates took it easier and waited patiently until the video footage of the competition rounds would become available... News Article Did you know that the new Golden Knights Gold lineup is ready for 4-way action?
posted: Feb 25th, 2021 The first preview of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 covered mostly the history of the event. The story pointed out that the Golden Knights Gold team won the next Paraclete XP Indoor Championship in 2016. The U.S. Army's 8-way team won the 8-way competition at Paraclete before they added the next set of FAI outdoor gold medals in September. Jesse Stahler was in this Golden Knights 4-way lineup... News Article Did you know that the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 begins on Saturday morning?
posted: Feb 24th, 2021 The NSL News attention is shifting to more indoor competition and to North Carolina this week. The annual Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021 is coming up, with Round 1 scheduled for Saturday morning. It is one of the few events that did not become a victim of the corona virus crisis last year, as it was held prior to the full impact of the pandemic. Paraclete XP launched their indoor competition with a test event in June 2009 and established it in the annual event calendar in 2011. It included the first 8-way meet in a wind-tunnel. The 16-foot flying chamber allows 8-way teams to perform... (more)
News Article Did you know that only four U.S. teams have defeated Arizona Airspeed in 4-way since 1994?
posted: Feb 20th, 2021 The most recent NSL Live Talk, which had the 4-way Women event as the main topic on February 17th, featured once again Joey Jones as the anchor of the show. Joey Jones has provided plenty of commentary and insights over the years for the NSL News and with interviews at events. His biggest accomplishment as a 4-way competitor was the world championship title that he won with DeLand Majik (Gary Smith, Solly Williams, Doug Park) at the FAI World Meet 2004 in Rijeka. The NSL News has mentioned the DeLand Majik story many times in the past. However, Joey Jones was an accomplished competitor before... (more)
News Article Did you know that only one competitor has experienced two jump-offs for USPA 4-way Open Class gold?
posted: Oct 19th, 2020 There have been only two jump-off rounds for gold medals in the last 20 years of 4-way Open Class competition at USPA Nationals, the first one in 2005, between Golden Knights and DeLand Fire, the second one last year, between Arizona Airspeed and SDC Rhythm XP. One competitor connects both events directly with each other, Airspeed XP8 member Matt Davidson. He is the only 4-way competitor in the United States with the experiences of these two jump-offs, which are separated by 14 years. The NSL News discovered video footage in the archives that was recorded throughout the USPA Nationals 2005... (more)
