Did you know that it's time for a separate World Challenge leaderboard in the female 4way category? posted: Jan 28th, 2012 It is wide open so far whether the World Challenge 2012 will include a Super Sequence this year or not. So far, roughly half of the audience would like to see a sequence of only random formations, while the other half would like to follow the IPC rules for a competition draw.
Something else will be different this year, and the list of teams shows what it is. The female lineups will have their own leaderboard for the first time. Host Paul Mayer decided to apply the IPC categories from here on, which require separate leaderboards and medals in 8way, 4way Open and 4way Women.
This step finally... (more)
Did you know that the audience can now vote for or against the Super Sequence in Bedford? posted: Jan 27th, 2012 The upcoming IPC Meeting with the discussion of modernizing the judging rules was leading into another attractive topic that is related to the World Challenge 2012.
The rules for this indoor competition included an event specific special feature. Each competition draw has one sequence of only random formations.
The judges had an "easy" time at the second World Challenge in 2007 when XL posted a 44-pointer for A,G,K,P,M. That changed quickly with increasing indoor training and the progression of the teams.
The standing record for the fast round at Bodyflight Bedford is a 66-pointer that... (more)
Did you know that Mark Kirkby and Craig Girard have all Airspeed USPA sweeps in common? posted: Jan 21st, 2012 Arizona Airspeed is still the top favorite for the Shamrock Showdown 2012, despite the impressive scoring by Aerodyne Aerokart and NMP-PCH Hayabusa at the 3rd Dubai Championship 2011.
According to the first results of the Shamrock poll Airspeed is almost exactly as far ahead of the two other teams as the same poll showed last year before the same event. Airspeed then also won as clearly as the poll results predicted. Only the positions for France and Belgium are switched this time. The audience expects the French team in 2nd place, just as it was after ten tounds last year. However, the pressure... (more)
Did you know that XL has not registered a lineup yet? posted: Jan 15th, 2012 The NSL News reported on 9 January 2012 that there are only three competitors who have competed at each World Challenge since Bodyflight Bedford launched the event in 2006. Arizona Airspeed and NMP-PCH Hayabusa are the only teams who attended each of those events, both of them year by year and with different lineups.
One team joined Airspeed and Hayabusa with their annual visits in Bedford in 2007 and has not missed a meet ever since. It's the mysterious XL project with its ever changing lineups that manages to threaten the best 4way teams in the world and steal serious portions of the jackpot... (more)
Did you know that the NSL News has been crunching the 2011 numbers? posted: Jan 4th, 2012 It's that time of the year again when the NSL News has to make the transition from one database to another, and it seems like it has happened successfully and without too much pain. It is also that time of the month when the Blue Skies Mag publishes the new issue, and the NSL News has contributed once again to the January 2012 publication.
The article still covers a 2011 event, the last major one of the year, the 3rd Dubai Championship 2011. The final numbers of the top teams in 2011 offered the opportunity to do some scoring math.
The NSL News concluded in the October/November column for... (more)
Did you know that Christy Frikken and Hannah Betts are launching a new team project? posted: Dec 26th, 2011 The aftermath of the SDC Rhythm XP tryouts continues with an update from the other top candidate for the Center Inside slot, Chris Farina's former Perris Fury team mate Christy Frikken.
The NSL News mentioned with the last update before Christmas Day that her NSL Profile did not provide much information of her skydiving career before Perris Fury. There is no news in this area, and the profile story still needs an update, however, the Perris Fury time period is probably the most important part of her skydiving career for the NSL News audience anyway.
This time period is not only a Perris Fury... (more)
