News Article Did you know that the 4-way competition is in full swing?
posted: Aug 10th, 2008 Meet Director Patrice Girardin sent the 8-way teams back to bed in the afternoon when it became obvious that there would be no time for today's second event. However, he saw chances to send loads later in the afternoon, and he was right. The first 4-way teams have been in the air, the parachutes have landed, and the competition has begun. The NSL News has been busy in the meantime. Nathan Polis completed the clip of yesterday's opening ceremony, Hayabusa coach Joey Jones visited the press room for a live interview. Airspeed Odyssey's complete lineup took the time a little bit later and chatted... (more)
News Article Did you know that Jerome David talks about double duties and more on NSL-TV?
posted: Aug 10th, 2008 It did not take too long this morning until people on the interview list were available for the NSL News. The weather still does not allow any jumping at the moment, and the teams are on stand-by. Jerome David, national coach and manager of the French Formation Skydiving teams, took the time to visit the NSL office in the press room. First thing he did after entering the room was serving the whole media staff with fresh coffee. That came, of course, after greeting each female staff member with kisses on both cheeks and handshakes for the men. And that happens every morning when people meet each... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Fun Flag is flying in the rain?
posted: Aug 10th, 2008 Meet Direcor Patrice Girardin just announced at the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge that the 4-way teams are on stand-by. It is raining at the moment. However, he said that the forecast promises better weather later this morning. The best view this morning at the competition site in Maubeuge is the Fun Flag, which is flying high on top of the very tall crane for yesterday's bunjee jumps. The French Deep Blue members found a great place to let it fly and keep control over it at the same time. Maybe for a while... (more)
News Article Did you know that the scores of the official training jumps provide additional insights?
posted: Aug 9th, 2008 Things have become more serious now at the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge. The scores of the World Meet 2006 in Germany have already been replaced by the scoring tables for the upcoming competition. The polls have also been removed for the moment. However, they will be brought back soon for good reasons. The pages where the results of the polls are posted offer a discussion forum that can be used throughout the whole event for many different purposes. Greetings to the teams, competitors and friends have a place there as much as serious discussion of the competition and feedback. There are intersting... (more)
News Article Did you know that Claire "Sparky" Scott tries to defend her gold medal?
posted: Aug 9th, 2008 No weather problems at all so far today - the dropzone in Maubeuge is very busy. NSL photographer Nathan Polis has prepared a clip with an overview of the whole dropzone, which will be uploaded soon. It is busy enough to provide a real live impression of what is going on the last day before the first scores will be posted. The field of 4-way teams in the female category has become smaller compared to the World Meet 2006. Twelve teams competed in Germany, eight teams are ready for Round 1 in Maubeuge. Seven of the eight nations (Australia, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, UK, USA) had their... (more)
News Article Did you know that the 4-way community welcomes six new nations in Maubeuge?
posted: Aug 9th, 2008 Maubeuge woke up this morning with blue skies all over. It did not take very long until the first Pilatus Porter was in the air. There is a fleet of eight of these jump planes in Maubeuge, which are very popular in France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. The critical weather conditions could make it necessary to take full advantage of the large number of planes and get as many teams in the air as possible and at the same time. However, the conditions on Saturday morning did not indicate any potential for problems with the weather. There are 334 competitors at the World Meet 2008, and they are... (more)
