Did You Know...

... that the Golden Knights did not find their mojo?

posted Sep 9th, 2007 - Back to the place where the weather is so good that the Meet Director has to slow down the operation of the USPA Nationals 2007. The judges were not able yesterday to keep up with the pace of the competition at Skydive Chicago. Eric Deren told the NSL News this morning that he plans to slow dwon the pace of the operation, so the judges can keep up and the teams will know their scores and the standings before they board the planes for the next round.

The audience could already notice that seven rounds were completed on Saturday and that Airspeed Odyssey has run away from the rest of the field. There is also a new video of Round 7. Fastrax Blue, the all-female line-up that aims for the US slot at the World Meet 2008 in France, has delivered an impressive performance so far and stands with an 18.0 average after seven rounds.

The NSL News will get back to the team's situation later. Fastrax Blue, with Becky Broccato (Tail), Kelley Fredrickson (Point), Erin Murphy (Outside Center) and Brianne Thompson (Inside Center) in the line-up, features the sequence of Round 6, which was completed yesterday afternoon.

The NSL News situation is still the same as yesterday and does not include the direct access to DZ-TV. However, the teams are supporting the NSL-TV coverage as much as they can, and new videos arrive on a regular basis. Airspeed Odyssey's seven rounds of the first day are already stored and will be uploaded soon.

Videos of the Golden Knights were the first ones that were brought to the NSL-TV audience yesterday. The Army team knows that the gold medals are realistically out of reach by now and still keep up great spirits. Airspeed Odyssey is simply too strong for the rest of the field, and the Golden Knights never got to the pace that usually gives them an advantage.

John Hoover explained it in very short words: "We never found our mojo."

He meant that there were too many flaws in each jump. The team did not get enough training jumps in before the USPA Nationals 2007 came up. The extraordinary speed of the Golden Knights line-up could not be reached since these flaws slowed down the pace as soon as it accelerated. More videos will follow, and Round 8 has already been completed.
