Did You Know...

... that Team Fastrax Red is challenging Airspeed Odyssey?

posted Sep 8th, 2007 - The next meet videos have already been uploaded. Steve Redinbo, Team Fastrax Red's videographer, took the time to provide the NSL News and the valued audience and USPA membership with footage directy from his helmet camera. Round 3 can be viewed by clicking on the 26-pointer's link on the leaderboard.

Team Fastrax has completed the same number of points as Airspeed Odyssey in each round so far. One infringement at the finish of Block 11 (Photon - Photon) reduced the score for the first round from 23 to 22 points. The NSL-TV audience is invited to look for the flaw.

Top teams leave for the next round
Airspeed Odyssey was one single infringement point ahead of Team Fastrax Red before the teams boarded the planes for Round 4. The judges are still working on the scores for Round 4 while the teams already prepare for Round 6. Round 5 is already history for the teams, and the videos have been dubbed for a while.

This has now created the same situation as in 2002 when the teams boarded the planes for the next rounds without knowing their own scores and the scores of the other teams, and the gap is getting bigger by the round. It is only the first day of the competition, and the meet management will have the opportunity to fix this situation for the remaining rounds tomorrow.

The top teams refused to board the planes in 2002 when they did not know their scores after Round 9. This year's USPA Nationals is the qualification event for the World Meet 2008, and the scores for each round are important for the teams to know.

The top of the AAA/Open Class field has already spread out more than expected. The competition for the gold medals seems to become a duel between Airspeed Odyssey and Team Fastrax Red. The Golden Knights will have to find a way to make up soem distance, while Perris Fury has already lost the contact to the three top teams.
