Cold Morning in DeLand

posted Nov 17th, 2006 - Blues skies and perfect weather welcomed the participants of SkyQuest 2006 this morning. BJ Worth gathered his Kaleidoscope Divers at 7 am and had the first load in the air at 7:45 am. The first jump served as a warm-up opportunity for particpants and pilots.

Warming up was difficult since the temperatures were in the 40's early in the morning. However, the second jump was already success for the Kaleidoscope Divers with the first complete 100-way and a perfect spot. The great start this morning promises a much better quality compared to previous SkyQuest events.

Two videos of this jump can be viewed by clicking here. In the meantime, the Air Force teams CAD and 7XY have arrived from Colorado and started the day with training jumps. The Italian team Fast + Furious is also in the air for the last training before the competition jumps will be drawn at noon.

Five 100-ways over DeLand

It was cold for the Kaleidoscope Divers early in the morning, on the ground as well as at 18,000 feet altitude.

However, it turned out to be a very successful day for BJ Worth, organizer of the Kaleidoscope Dives. His group completed five jumps from 18,000 feet and achieved the goal of building complete 100-way formations as a foundation for other maneuvers.

In fact, some of the dives went so well that the Kaleidoscope Divers moved on with the transition to the next formation.

Moving on to the Diamond on Saturday

The team captains were pleased with the general performance on Friday and decided to take on the next dive that BJ Worth has designed for this year's event.

The 100-way Diamond will be Saturday's first jump, take-off is scheduled for 7:30 am.

The 4-way teams will back up the first load, and Optic Nerve joins the small fun competition in the morning.
